Why would you bring a player in on loan that is going to be injured until the end of September?

Smacks of a bit of desperation, just to show the "6 signings" wasn't just pie in the sky.

Because you're a useless meathead manual manipulator. Happy to help.

I have to admire your pluck in challenging that credulous mob on the Rovers fans forum.

Many have wondered how such seemingly incompatible characters as Mr Al-Quidi and Mr Barton could find common purpose and the answer may be that they are both, in their own way, Gaslighters.

Here is an interesting article from Forbes magazine.

    Gaslighters: Aggressors Playing The Victim

One of the ways that gaslighters/narcissists exert their power through playing the victim.  In relationships, gaslighters play the victim in order to manipulate and guilt their partners into doing their will.  On a global stage, when gaslighter "plays the role" of a victim, it takes on a different tone.  A gaslighting leader who plays the victim rallies supporters into defending the gaslighter against a perceived enemy.  This serves two purposes—to distract from the gaslighter's behavior and to keep the perceived enemy off-kilter by quickly switching from an aggressor to a victim.

The gaslighter attacks whenever someone questions or criticizes the gaslighter's behavior—and whoever stands up for those who question the gaslighter are similarly attacked.  However, when the pressure is on the gaslighter, they play the "poor me" card quickly.

What should you do when you go from being attacked by a gaslighter to being painted as the aggressor by the same person?  You could immediately defend yourself, but you run the risk of looking like you are validating the gaslighter's accusations.  If you stay silent and wait for the gaslighter's comments to die down, damage may already have been done to your reputation.  This is exactly what the gaslighter seeks—putting you in a "damned if you do, damned if you don't" situation.  That is where the gaslighter gets his power.  Controlling through playing the victim gets the gaslighter as much attention as being an aggressor.

Maybe a combination of defense and then laying low is the solution.  State the truth, with verification of that truth—then let the gaslighter's comments ride out their impact.  When a gaslighter makes enough swings from aggressor and victim towards the same source, others start to notice the pattern.  Then people will immediately question the source when the gaslighter acts as if they have been "done wrong."

Oh you're preaching to the converted here; Wael and Barton especially are classic narcissist's. Mind you, when we have the dopey narcissist running Her Game Too quite close to the club, he's in good company. (Funny how they don't mention him battering his Mrs, isn't it? Almost like they gain something out of it...).

As for our forum, if I'm honest I've been on there as much as I've been on here in the last two years or so, it's full of absolute morons who lap up the crap that Barton and Wael spout without challenging it. Wael says the club has no debt...the club has no debt. Never mind the fact its hidden behind Jersey company reporting which is less transparent than mud.

I made my opinion clear a few posts back. When you don't get the results you want you DO NOT go bagging fellow professional managers.......two weeks on the spin too. It's unprofessional and makes you look a right cock.

As if he needed any help in that regard...

You are literally one in a million lad. By that I mean out of one million Gas (conservative estimate excluding car park lock outs) you are literally the only one that can see good old Joey is a total ? regardless of results.

He could get us promoted to the Premier League and playing Champions League football but he'd still be a total ****. And that's a fact. The sooner he's gone, the better. Rather be playing Braintree again in the Conference with Darrell Clarke than be succeeding with this scumbag in charge.

Whelan being the player coach i assume? What’s the craic there?

Yep. We had him on a short term contract last season. He was ok, nothing special but probably decent for the squad. Offered him a renewal in the summer and he declined saying he didn't want to play any more and he wasn't keen on travelling. Fast forward a few weeks and he's a player/coach as a compromise and good old Joey's squad building is so good he's starting several games in a row. Oh, all while his wife has a whinge on Twitter that 'you don't use Glenn's picture when you win, only when you lose'. (Yes, seriously).

Big three days left for the abuser to sign…..6 players. That’s what he said would happen anyway, surely wasn’t a ploy to excite fans to love him more for no reason ?

The bloke is an absolute tool and if he told you it was raining you'd look out the window to check...

It's ok though, he is following a couple of negligent managers but built a squad last season with two ageing crocks as the only striker options and this season is having to play a player coach who doesn't even want to be here.

Its ruining my day already talking about him if I'm honest

OK, that’s enough… get yourself down to Ashton Gate and get hold of a proper football shirt. ( what with the colour and style, plus the super impressive stadium you’ll feel like you’re watching Arsenal on steroids every week).. enjoy the rest of your life.

Appreciate the kind offer FNQ but I'm afraid I can't do it ?

I did laugh at a long time Rovers fan (who incidentally was very vocally 'not a penny more' when that knob was appointed but now goes every week) tweeted 'mind the gap' after two games. We could be in the Championship and above you, and it would still be an absolute chasm...!

With that wife beating idiot in charge the minimal is just a glorified EDL rally every weekend now.. surely the most detestable club in England now, even for neutrals..

Sadly, I can't disagree with this. Even seeing 'Manager: Joey Barton' on the programme must make literally any opposition fans think we are a disgrace.

There's rivalry in all sport, some players or clubs or managers you just have a dislike for like Colin for example, but I would never wish him dead. What sort of people actually say these terrible things? Who in their right mind would publicly state they'd wish a former player or anybody connected with another football club dead?

    Absolutely disgusting and senseless.

100%. I know it's true that all clubs have their morons but when we have a manager with a rap sheet longer than your arm what do you expect. Sad to see some people trying to dismiss it as 'banter' too. The same people sang songs a few weeks back about Matt Taylor dying. Shocking.

  10. Hello chaps (and chappesses), long time no post. Wanted to pop in though to say it's a damn shame when anyone is forced to retire through injury and this lad is one of the last old school defenders who I have huge respect for. Wishing him all the best in retirement .

Hope you are all well, much love, FP x

In fairness “making stuff up” is a bit harsh. I was going by when Rovers and Ipswich were last in the same division. I didn’t realise that the Gas had met Ipswich in a 1st round, midweek League Cup match since then.

Either way, it was ridiculous for that dimwit to compare your Saturday attendance at Portman Road, a ground Rovers have barely visited in 30 years, with our trip to Hillsborough (a yearly event), lunchtime on a Sunday...also televised on Sky. But, like I say, the bloke is a whopper.

    Definitely agree with that...

Let’s take a look at the similarities then..

Small ground (including shit crowds) ✔️

Small Budget ✖️- B’mouth have been spending over their means for years now, R*vers record transfer fee is on par with what De Bruyne earns a week.

Small Squad ✖️- Bournemouth don't really have that small a squad, just a ridiculously long injury list. Rovers have a small squad as they have no choice, they cannot afford the wages.

Enthusiastic Young Manager ✖️ - Eddie Howe by all means, but excuse my ignorance here but I’ve never even heard of this Garner bloke, someone who’s never managed a single game anywhere, yet bar a couple of them the Fewers all think it’s a great appointment.

    Automatic promotion? - ???

    You forgot;

Genuine billionaire owner? Win for the Cherries on this one, sadly.

I’ve encountered this bloke on Facebook before, he’s a cretin.

Maybe he’d like to say how many they took to Plymouth earlier in the week?

    188 wasn’t it?

Pathetic support but then, unlike Ipswich, it wasn’t a big day out at a ground they haven’t visited for 30 years.

To be fair this whole thing IS embarrassing, however our last trip to Portman Rd was in 2012. There are enough things to embarrass us about without making up stuff! ?

We play these tomorrow.     Not to piss on anyone's expectations here but wouldn't be that surprised if they came away with three points.     Gave the yearly obligatory 'wave the white flag' in the FA Cup and made a mockery of the competitions integrity yet again with the Coventry replay a few days ago, seriously we were dire.    Hardly tried and if we play like that tomorrow then may as well award Rovers the three points and save another shameful excuse for putting on a game.

Memory must be ageing or something as can't recall right now the last time we played BRFC in the league or even any cup game, guess they've been kept apart by different leagues but tomorrow should be a good indication of how far we've really come since dropping out the Championship back in May.    Lambert is under a bit of pressure after some recent setbacks and one or doubts are creeping in.      Rovers are no mugs as their fifth place position shows and expecting a tough game tomorrow.   We'll try to beat them but I think we've punched above our weight often this season and second place for the team may be a little generous.    Already lost to Accrington and Rotherham, not good enough.        Hope to do better in a few hours.

2012 League Cup. 3-1 to Ipswich at Portman Road. HTH.

Well Whyte back as mandatory for the WBC.  He will get to fight whoever wins in Feb.   No doubt the WBC will find a way to ignore him again after that..

Something still doesn't seem right about this whole story, but ultimately if UKAD have now come out and formally cleared Dillian then the right thing to do is reinstate him as number 1 challenger.

Likely not until Feb 2021 though given the contractual fights between Fury and Wilder in 2020, I have a feeling Whyte might get a title shot elsewhere before that though, with a Joshua fight. He is in limbo a bit at present too as once this initial tranche of mandatory challengers is sorted (ordered to face Pulev by the IBF and Usyk by the WBO), he will have to pick voluntaries until the WBC situation is clear, so a Whyte rematch makes sense late next year.

I think he fights Pulev in March/April; drops the WBO so Usyk can fight another contender for the vacant belt and keep it in the Matchroom/DAZN stable, then AJ v Whyte in Quarter 4 of 2020.

  16. Thought it was a brilliant performance from AJ last night. Proved a lot of people - including me - wrong, who felt Ruiz had his number and Joshua wouldn't have the discipline to fight that way for 12 rounds, but it was brilliantly disciplined and he boxed to his strengths superbly.

Hands up, got that one wrong. Ruiz was a disgrace with his conditioning but was still dangerous and showed a tremendous chin throughout.

Whyte was absolute turd in his fight and clearly hadn't spent a lot of time training with the drug test stuff hanging over his head.

I can't believe AJ can have made the necessary adjustments in the time he's had, unless the first fight was a complete aberration due to circumstances we're unaware of.

You can see a potential path to a points decision from the blueprint against Parker but I'm not sure Joshua can be disciplined enough not to get involved in exchanges with Ruiz at some stage, and if he does he'll get outgunned by volume and quality.

Completely agree with this. Joshua would have to completely restyle his boxing ability to counteract the issues he had against Ruiz last time out. The Bunce and Costello podcast last week was interesting though, AJ appeared to hint there was something that happened in the build up to the first fight that he has corrected, but wouldn't say what. Looking forward to this fight; intriguing.

Mate, the very fact that it's Sheffield Utd, Coventry and Charlton fans rather than Braintree, Gateshead and Eastleigh fans is good enough for me for now!

I've said it on here before that I think Higgs made the club a decent proposition for investors by securing a deal with the UWE and pp for a new stadium in a heavily populated area with good road access. I don't believe for a second that the Al Qadis (?) invested in the Gas with any thoughts of staying at the Mem, even in the event of defeat to Sainsburys, it just wouldn't make financial sense.

It'll be done, just a question of when.

Tend to agree, it was one of the few good things he did for the club!

Or, sell up & move out of the Mem to a temporary ground share (back to Trumpton?) while waiting for the UWE stadium to get started, followed by delay, delay, delay.

Wally thinks **** this I'm off.

It has happened before, just saying

Possible, I grant you. Difference now though, however, is that we have no debt, as the majority of this was to the previous shareholders, so it makes it more viable even we get screwed over in this sort of way.

Fair play, looks nice. I mean, the seats are the wrong colour, but it is impressive. Like a midget love child of Anfield and the City Ground.
