  1. Under Nige did not play much but also got a knock quite early on...he reminds me very much of Des Walker in his playing style... I am sure older members of the forum will remember him from Forest.  He is going to be a big player for us next season..

  2. Will be corrected, but played alongside Ken Wimhurst ?
Same as other more mature posters here, centre back when I started watching City.  Playing style similar to Shaun Taylor…. Solid as a rock 😃

But yeah, let’s write him off because we’ve seen him play 40 minutes of football as a late substitute in a struggling team.

But sadly that is what football fans are... totally fickle.

It's all about the here and now.. the same can be said for the manager !  The noise will go away now for a few weeks in that regards

He is back in Dublin currently. Expected that we wont see any of him til next year.

Interesting… completely at odds with what Tinman alluded to few weeks back on radio. I hope the local journos pick up on this and ask the question at the next press conference and see what response is forthcoming….  Simple ask really… why has he not featured in U21s yet and has he gone home ?

would be great to have all four stands singing "There's only one Nigel Pearson!"

Got to ask the question….tin helmet on.

Would those be expected to sing who were  also on the 26/12/22 singing ‘we want Pearson out’ along with ‘you don’t know what your doing’

It was reported in the media a toxic atmosphere was created dby fans demanding his head… now that would be ironic a !  And of course I heard it as well.
how times change, and football fans 🤔 short memories ?

we lost that day to WBA 0 2…

  6. This thread is bonkers as are football supporters. Remember words of Mick McCarthy who said ‘As a manager you are either a champ or a chump, and it fluctuates between the two’

It was only a month or so ago he was the best thing since hovis sliced bread, now LM is the son of satan. This after two abject crap performances,  that followed some cracking good performances. I have seen it all before, as most of us here have.
it is a fact things are in place for next season with  new signings  and more planned so accept it for what is it. We are not going up, not going down. Support him to get it right and build for next season. Certain players will move on and cycle regeneration continues.

  7. Re Twine on another thread a poster said no point in playing him anyway if not going to be here next season.

Did I not hear when  signed that the hope & expectation was a deal could be done to keep him here at the end of the season?  Manning clearly history with him and could be a quality signing

Yes, because I don’t expect us to play that badly.

LM  on radio Brizzle seems to put it down to the volume of games we had recently re the second half....  Hhhhhmmmm  At least we have two whole  clear days to recover 🙈

    Nope, not forgotten.

Fact is he’s achieved something (twice) that SL hasn’t & most don’t give a shit about shirts, as can be witnessed by some of the abominations we have worn recently.

I do not believe  that.. imagine a new owner coming here and all of a sudden we had to play in blue shirts !  I dread to think about the repercussions. Still all totally hypothetical  as will never happen

    Vincent Tan?

Brilliant example, just the two more promotions to the Prem than Lansdown.

”Be careful what you wish for” FFS.

I think you forgotten the  total sh1t storm when the red flag Malaysia  was fluttering over the stadium and the plan to make them play in red shirts.  Total uproar (which was rather funny) at the time. He had sold their soul was the claim

  11. Where and how does he go?

Has he not said this that he has been trying to find other investment and would sell up…but would you like a Vincent Tan, the Venkys, a Chansiri (who recently said if owls fans keep moaning he will no longer pay the bills)  and the list is endless.

odd that on OTIB there was none of this stuff on here  after we beat Westham ?

  12. Wow 😀  thanks for sharing to the poster….that interview made me laugh..made my afternoon…

Never heard an interview like that from a manager on a public broadcast…

He says ‘worse than watching frigging  antiques road show…apologises to anyone who likes that’ Calling out particular players  re attitude and behaviours, and saying about why not going to play them etc etc…Saying how he wants them to play and they ignore him..(to paraphrase)

    good stuff…

I will have a pop at that one, Onana is not a clown, and neither was De Gea. Onana's abilty with his feet is high, very high, Onana is struggling with Man U's build up play and so did De Gea. It could be that its Man U's tactics, the complex build up play that is fundamentally problematic for Man Utd.

He makes the simple look ‘spectacular’ and a friend who is a ST holder at Man Ure tells me thats the view point from the masses. I can only comment on what I  see on the box.
Point is he was 45M makes you wonder what MOL value is then.
As for De Gea my mate would have him back asap,  and still without a club.

  14. Lot comments I often read and hear is that Max is not a championship standard keeper.

Do not know how the level is being set but I would rather have Max between the sticks than that clown Man Ure signed for 43 Million Andre Onana.

Total showman and calamity slmost every game. what would Max be replaced by that would be an upgrade.
Max is pretty solid, every keeper will make odd mistake

  15. The video on this thread,  and the fans at Luton, when we signed him, rated him, there is a player in there for sure. As others have alluded on this thread, a player needs a run of games to get going... He never seems to get that.  Yet both TC and SB seem to be misfiring as well . I would like to see him start against Hull..

  16. A few days back I put up a post here about what a good player the Boro No 25 at the Gate was...Matt Crooks (or Crook), I was not suggesting for one moment we should buy him, but it that 'type' of forward player we are missing so much... a pacy, skilful physical presence.

With SB, TC & NW we have pretty decent players but they are smaller  diminutive players who would thrive alongside such a player.  Boro got Crooks for £1.3M.  Labour as much as our forwards do, it like they are always feeding of scraps... which is perhaps why we have scored so few goals.

Some years back Aden Flint said one of the most difficult opponents he played against, was Chris Martin.  Of course we later had him at the end of his career when he had lost a bit of his pace...Not as effective.  I would like to see some wheeling & dealing this Jan...interesting watch I think..

Honest question is how do you know his value because he was pretty decent and you wouldn’t be able to snap him up for 1.5 in 2 years time let alone in January,is this some stupid football game estimate or what because I’m baffled

Sold for £1.3M 2021 Rotherham to Boro…before that a few £150k type transfers, Northampton to Rotherham etc..£1.5 estimated value on some transfer web site.
A player of Crooks calibre, strengh, size, touch pace and power…transform our forward line.. wishful thinking 🤔

Been a pest for years, always seems to score against us! Clever player indeed. Was impressed with their no 7, Hackney too, can see why he’s highly rated.

Was not aware of that…seemed to have played likes of Rotherham and Accrington. (Wiki)…he reminded me of Sims now at Coventry..

  19. Matt Crooks.   No25.  Was pleased to see him depart the field.

Did not know who he was, but having had a look this evening is a forward/midfielder and aged 29 seemed to have played a lot in the lower leagues of the EFL. Valued around 1.5 M.

Good touch, mobile and pacy and a handful all day… a couple times showed really good touches in front of the Dolman. A bit similar to Cornick..  shows they are out there without spending mega bucks

Hope he has learn't that Mehmeti is crap and Weimann is a headless chicken

unlikely… as reported he was going to try get Mehmeti on loan at  Oxford.. in January, so he must see a player in him, as did previous management here who paid a lot money for him..there should be a thread on its own rec Anis

  21. For years all sorts rumours abounded about SL wanting to buy all the houses behind Atyeo stand. Already owned so many, some owners holding out refusing to sell etc etc etc

At a senior reds lunch he was asked a direct question re this subject  and to summarise, he  said it was fiction.  They can fill in corners if needs but no plans to do so.

  22. Perhaps harsh... we will never agree on that card ... what we will agree on mind not sorry to see Bannan leave the pitch, although in his mid 30's (born 89)  now still a class act. Was best player on the pitch.  We used to have a 'love in' with old Barry...  never wastes a ball.. every thing went through him
