  1. We know decent chunks if not all of this already but laid out like this., it's an epic fail of Governance over a sustained period of time!
  2. 20 years ago in August- and on this date in fact having looked it up we played Bury. Remember it vaguely as it was my first full season but Bristol City 1-1 Bury, 28th August 1999. Pulis v Warnock. That Bury statement I fear could have been a harbinger- they put out a statement coming up to 5pm about CCTV, not entering the ground without permission- already posted about it but I wonder... Who owns Gigg Lane?
  3. Sad, sad day. Don't ask me why but given his laisse faire/useless approach to governance I have a slight suspicion that Shaun Harvey would have let Bury start the season and after that who knows- may have unravelled really quickly but it's a suspicion that I can't fully shake. 12 hours ago it looked all good- the fans were there including Bolton fan helping to clean the ground- that guy in his 70s was there, the one who was turning up to the ground each day. Dark day for English football, first such situation like this since "the modern era" began- sad times. Wise words from JL.
  4. https://www.independent.co.uk/sport/football/football-league/bury-bolton-wanderers-takeover-neglect-nothing-short-national-tragedy-a9081111.html Depressing reading...
  5. The "tick tock tick tock" in the post that preceded it similar.
  6. It's not so bad on a computer but on a phone etc.. Sure. Incredible- the headline speaks volumes, even considering the track record of the EFL! It reads like a spoof article ie the Spoof.com or similar and considering the date it may as well be but you can't make up that stuff!
  7. Sometimes stewards might try to watch a bit of the game. Those 2 given the venue and the standard of the 'football' on offer though clearly have more sense- probably volunteered...
  8. Absolutely. This just about sums it up- when I first read it I thought 'it can't be true!' https://www.stokesentinel.co.uk/sport/football/football-news/port-vale-oyston-smurthwaite-blackpool-2708138 Yet he was in a Plan B as Bury's saviour. Though his Plan B sounded suspiciously like realising the value of Gigg Lane when he explained it today...
  9. Tbh they're the only one so far as I can see posting in that tone but there were bound to be a few, given the threat of relegation is ever present for them...
  10. Assumed there was at least one or two local vagrants amongst their number?
  11. A reaction by someone on their forum- the usual levels of class? pudseygas First Team Posts: 542 Member is Online Posting Level Next Level in 458 posts 17 minutes ago via mobile Quote Post by pudseygas on 17 minutes ago Tick tock tick tock pudseygas First Team Posts: 542 Member is Online Posting Level Next Level in 458 posts 16 minutes ago via mobile Quote Post by pudseygas on 16 minutes ago Time's up, 2 less relegation places to worry about
  12. Hope for a miracle for Bolton and Bury, however...
  13. I don't see how there's any coming back now for either club in the League in their current form. Good. Crass doesn't touch the sides.
  14. That's got to be a joke/mockup surely!! ******* abysmal.
  15. Few Liverpool too- Neville Neville, Bury- Neville Neville, dad of the Nevilles- to stupid people it means "Haha".
  16. Bury have just released a statement! Wasn't quite what I was anticipating when I clicked on it... https://www.buryfc.co.uk/news/2019/august/statement-from-bury-fc/ Interesting Tweet too...
  17. Seen a few apparent Liverpool fans, laughing about it due to Neville Neville and Bury link.
  18. The always excellent Kieran Maguire...EFL and their ways in terms of oversight, governance etc!!
  19. Looking at some of the Conference North, the number of ex clubs from the lower 2 divisions or reformed versions of them is nuts! Like a Division 5 in parts.
  20. Salford- not far from Old Trafford, big Man Utd fanbase.
  21. ...Not to mention the identity, between town, club and community- arguably the smaller the town, the closer this is for a professional club?
  22. Quite rare that- usually Northern clubs were ejected/voted out for Southern ones- doubtless there's a list somewhere.
  23. Though they're back! Brilliantly, got promoted back in 40 years after the bankruptcy of the original- brilliant in a symbolic sense, and I think Oxford replaced them in the League. Well their promotion would have been all the sweeter as when they returned in 2006, Oxford went down. Interestingly there are a number of those original clubs still in existence in non League- add to that Barrow, Gainsborough, Southport and Workington all voted out at varied times. Reformed versions of some of the others of course but glad to see some of those e.g. the 3 I listed, had a quick look and both Glossop and Nelson still exist- Darwen went bust but very quickly reformed and still play in their own ground- half a continuity. Back in those days, it must have been tempting to just give up if voted out of the League, professional to semi professional in one close season, no promotion/relegation system until 1986? Credit to those clubs that managed to avoid this.
  24. The mentioned unavailable video, is this it or are we talking 2 different ones?
  25. Don't think Ken Anderson at Bolton's track record pre buying them is especially shining either. Two- at best- grossly incompetent, and definitely unfit and improper persons to run football clubs.
