  1. Non-falsifible, nugatory statement so expand and explain as to how you think City might have been run, with or without SL?
  2. Steve Lansdown has personally committed over £214m of his own money to ensure Bristol City FC remain trading such we may occasionally have an afternoon of fun at AG. And you, what have you contributed to keep City trading?
  3. The relevant bit is folks questioned what Pearson had done and won? Leicester's an interesting case in point as unusually for a manager he was sacked, not for a poor run of results (the opposite in his case,) rather a 'difference of opinion' with the owner (not helped by his son's infamous video.) I didn't want Pearson appointed but that was rather more to do with his apparent 'attitude' than his footballing nous. If anything his attitude to date has been commendably restrained in not publicly stating what he (and some of the rest of us,) think of certain players, to which his gritted teeth give hint.
  4. And as any Leicester fan will attest it was his squad that formed the basis of the side with which The Tinkerman won the Premier.
  5. Martin? Goals? One assumes you include Semenyo. A bloke, to remind, whose Football League career to date (including spells in the bottom divisions,) has produced 13 goals from 117 appearances. That's a goal every 9 games, fewer than 5 per season.
  6. So true Miah. Out of interest, your epithet - hero or villain given the similarities with Pal Joey and his propensity for violence? Joey would do well to heed the cautionary tale of that talented son of Cork.
  7. Pedro Richards stonked a straight one at Cashley from about the halfway line toward the East End. Ball didn't swerve. Super Cash (sic) put both arms up to catch it and it sailed through the gap. Stupendous strike.
  8. Not every time. A select few witnessed City's first win in several generations....
  9. Moot given they've history in not paying NI.
  10. £12k per week in Div 1, Preston in the Championship at £9k? Where's the levelling up? They also appear to have little trouble in signing anybody with a pulse. Some embargo that.
  11. So those who all along stated Derby were lowlife, cheating scumbags were proven right. So come on EFL. You said there were mechanisms to ensure, should Derby fail to repay HMRC in full thus giving them an £18m+ advantage in their accounts, that non-payment would be penalised such they would NOT gain an unfair advantage over their peers. What are you going to do? (I won't hold my breath.....)
  12. Two things always puzzled me about this image: 1. What's the jumping thug in his right hand? 2. Why's Steve Cooper there grabbing the back of the net?
  13. "The magic of the cup..." (sic) Spare me . . I neglected to spot the draw had been made for the 3rd round let alone forced onto a Tuesday night, early November. And to think the FA Cup once mattered ....
  14. Try Pedro Richards at AG, 75/76, the Saturday after we'd won promotion to the top flight.
  15. Don't forget the delights of The Bull being paraded around beforehand....
  16. Wrong. "A player is in an offside position if: any part of the head, body or feet is in the opponents’ half (excluding the halfway line) and any part of the head, body or feet is nearer to the opponents’ goal line than BOTH the BALL and the SECOND-LAST OPPONENT." If the ball is nearer the opponent's goal line a player behind it is NOT in an offside position.
  17. Last point is telling as it seems to me we create far more telling chances on the counter than when in controlled possession.
  18. Thanks, not I'm sure I understand any of it. My point was somewhat rather more expansive in it seems to me that beyond most clubs we regularly get the ball into good areas of the opponent's half and then simply cede possession without creating threat. I guess somebody somewhere measures this but interested to hear what others think? For example, how many dead balls are first touched by opposition? Are there crossing stats; how many under/over hit, hit behind, hit to opponents et al?
  19. Hindsight's a wonderful thing and never criticise a player for shooting but there were unmarked players waiting for the pull back. Yet another great position in possession that translated to nothing. We do that so often.
  20. I did. But whilst he's good in space with ball at feet his final ball is often as poor as the rest (I'll ignore his falling over when challenged.) It would be churlish to criticise that wonderful, mazy run he made into the box, but narrow-angle, flash wide rather than drag back to unmarked players in front of goal wasn't the percentage call. Not just Scott but plenty of his corners and free kicks this year haven't cleared the first man - question is why?
  21. Despite all the positives last night we were again ultimately undone by woeful distribution in the final third. Dead ball or in play City's inability to clear the first man, pick out a team mate, avoid passing to space, avoid over-hitting the pass or even managing to keep the thing in play - what stats are there to show where City compare with others in the EFL? I find it difficult to identify who City's worst culprit in this respect as they all appear equally inept at playing a final, quality pass. Puzzling given they all play decent football in getting to that point. Probably also something to do with positioning and movement of strikers in the box but its incredible how few decent chances we create compared to those possession and positioning suggest we should.
  22. Not looking to blame Vyner who I thought played well again last night but I've just re-watched the goal a couple of times. With the ball about to come over he's a fair distance from Sharp who has Tanner in close attendance. Just as its about to be played he stops to check the line and gestures to Tanner to pick up Ndiaye in the belief he has Sharp covered. Except he's very slow react to the cross forcing Tanner to go with and through Sharp. Tanner moves a good yard or two before Vyner starts back-pedaling. But defence didn't cost us. Again it was poor execution in the box coupled with woefully shocking distribution in the final third that did for us.
  23. Don't disagree re Sykes but are you sure the shirt tug didn't occur when Vyner was coming back down? From your screenshot difficult to tell where the ball is but looks as though he's already nodded it out of screen. Looks, too, like Sharp is kicking Vyner up the arse, save he isn't . We've looked far more solid in the box now Bentley's been dropped but we have this recurring issue of with a mixture of zone and man marking we've multiple heads going for the same ball and all they do is get in each other's way.
