  1. The way I see it is Twine has been brought in on loan to cover Weimann leaving.

With City by the sound of it not willing to play Weimann again due his contract situation using Weimanns wage to cover a fair proportion of Twine's.

Its a shame that this doesn’t sound to be a view to a permanent deal or isn’t a permanent deal, but if we have decided not to play Weimann it might have left us short for cover if we pick up a few injuries so I can see why Twine has been brought in.

Great that we have made Garner-Hickmans deal permanent.

  2. Really disappointed by this decision. Pearson has done a cracking job. He saved us from a points deduction and relegation. We couldn’t even win a corner when he arrived, we play some great stuff now and we play as a team!!

He got rid of all the overpaid crap from the previous manager. Brought through so many exciting youngsters. Didn’t waste money on developing other clubs players either or panic buy.

We have Sheffield Wednesday and QPR to come both winnable which would have put us back into contention.

Not sure what else Pearson could have done.

This is the worse decision the Lansdowns have made by a Mile. I’m in shock….

His hands are tied because of the injury crisis. That’s what you should be kicking off about. If we had Vyner, Atkinson, McCrorie, Tanner & Naismith our defence would be looking good.

How many more player do you want? If we had no injuries and put out similar to todays team were still playing poorly then yes, SL would need to answer why he didn’t strengthen the team but that isn’t the case.

The fact you’ve said I’m sending SL shows you haven’t read what I’ve said. You need to direct your anger/request for someone to speak to the professional people in the roles that are causing issue. Rennie/Orme/the other fitness coach whose name I’ve forgot. They need to come out and explain why we have 11/12 first team players out and what they are going to do to resolve it and prevent it happening again.

Completely agree. We have a squad of 24 players (not including Thomas). Pearson has openly said he wants to work within a small squad. Our squad can’t be too big as it will block youth coming through. We should have had someone lined up when Scott was sold to replace his position but apart from that most fans were genially happy with the summer recruitment.

12 players out injured and now it’s Lansdowns fault. Clubs would have also known we had money to spend so we would have had to offer inflated prices. When we last had money to spend under Johnson we wasted it and most of his expensive signings have since left for free or nominal fees and they were also on high wages. I can understand Lansdown being cautious from making the same mistake again.

  4. Is Steve Lansdown the new scapegoat? We have a squad of 25 players.  Our last couple of popular managers Nigel Pearson and Steve Cotterill both wanted to work with small squads.

Yes we should have spent some more of Scott’s money on a couple of quality players but you can’t really plan for your injury list to be into double figures. If you are then your squad size needs to be 30+ that Pearson doesn’t want.

Genuine Question: do you believe para 2? Or is it just a way of ascertaining what the knock on effect would be with the fan base before considering a (possibly) pre-determined course of action.

I wholeheartedly accept that you may be correct in your assertions of course.....

I’m just thinking of reasons why they haven’t offered him a new contract yet. He has done everything asked of him and more.

The uncertainty is certainly now causing a problem.

Jon Lansdown need to take his own advice from the article he’s quoted on when Pearson previously signed his 3 year contract.

    https://www.bcfc.co.uk/news/city-appoint-pearson-on-three-year-deal/

This should have been sorted last summer.

  6. If the Lanstowns really wanted Pearson gone after the Boxing Day against WBA match last season was a great opportunity to do so as a large amount of the fan base was starting to lose confidence in Pearson but they stuck with him.

maybe they just want to see how a bit more of the season pans out first say see where we are at Christmas before they look to offer him a bigger deal.

Must admit to being with TR on this one. Came here with a bit of a rep but sadly not really lived up to it. I would let him go at the end of the season.

He was a panic buy due to the injury to Benik Afobe. We were still in with a shout of the play offs. He has been a model pro but hasn’t scored the goals required.

If Pearson was in charge back then Wells wouldn’t have been bought we would have gone with what we had / given youth a chance.

  8. Incredible to think at the start of the season O’Leary, Tanner, Vyner and Pring were some way off to be considered as regulars.

O’Leary was expected to go off on loan, Vyner was surplus and fans were surprised he was still here and even close to the first team squad, Pring was out in the cold and Tanner was behind both Sykes and Wilson for the right wing back position.

With half our team out injured for a good part of the season and being a small squad 13th is a good return in my opinion. Have we had a fully fit squad at any point this season? Most teams would struggle with at least 5 regular starters out. I was expecting some big beatings with our current back four.

Pearson doesn’t moan about injuries or do shit your pants signings like Johnson or his predecessors would have done.

If we can keep the squad fit, with a few quality additions, next season could be interesting.

  9. The current role Kal Naismith is playing is the only role that we haven’t got cover for when everyone is fit.

For our current system to work Naismith has to play every minute. This position always has been a position we have struggled to recruit into. Don’t think it’s a coincidence that since Naismith has been moved into this position Scott’s performances have improved.

  10. I can remember posts a few years ago saying that Semenyo was chasing shadows etc and won’t make it at this level. Can’t believe we turned down 2m from Chelsea for him blah blah blah.

He really has turned it round to the extend that some fans were disappointed with the fee we are getting.
I think it’s a fair fee. His goals ratio is still poor, he is still raw but has bags of potential. He will be missed but we can survive without him. He has been in and out of the team this season. Before the turn of the year Conway and Wells was our preferred partnership.

  11. We haven’t got a penny to spend, Pearson has had to sign free transfers and rely on bringing players through.

He’s had to move on the overpaid crap deadwood that Johnson and Ashton brought in.

Results aren’t improving, if Pearson is dismissed it’s got to be someone that can carry on the good work that Pearson has done.

  12. Would much rather invest in our kids and players from the lower leagues with hunger to improve and also have potential to get better which could give us value for money than waste 10m or so on the likes of Palmer, Wells etc.

Our best teams during my lifetime of supporting City have been made up of young or lower league players with potential with the odd old pro thrown in.

Worse teams have been the end of both of the Johnsons reigns where we had large squads of overpaid players who don’t care about being here.

Big Money signings just don’t work for us and put us back years…

  13. Some parts of the job he done here were great in the fees we got for players however the mess we are in now can only be put down to him.

just read this. Does sound familiar to what Ashton did here.

Sorry if this has already been posted

  14. Great Idea let’s go for our 4th manager in 16  months!!

Its going to take time to sort this mess out. Need to move these poor players from previous managers on.

Don’t see the point of changing Managers again. Patients is needed.
