  1. We have several international breaks during the season and also when the team is away or its a long journey (? to those fans that go home and away) please consider local non league football. They'd appreciate your support. I personally go to Clevedon town where the welcome is friendly and the football good. And you can enjoy a pint on the terraces whilst standing up! Weston, Portishead, Nailsea and Tickenham are all worth a visit.

These clubs have a hand to mouth existence and don't have access to the money swilling around at the top of the game

Give it a go if you can

  2. ...is abysmal. Going into S23 today to my seat through the vomitory (that's what they're called honest!) The steward was hood up (was it raining or cold?) Hands in pockets, leaning against wall, totally disinterested and not engaging with fans.

The minimum I expect is alert, engaging, positive NVC's. Do they have no supervisors to kick their arse.

As for kids going on the pitch with Man City coming up it'll be more. Messages on PA would help and albeit going on the green bit is a criminal offence a bit of understanding wouldn't go amiss. Bit different to a drunken scroat.

Match day experience generally good but could be soon much better with a few tweaks

    Rant over

And yes, I've worked at large events for decades

  3. No good Max kicking ball up middle of park to our forward line of small players. Be creative. He'll get there

PS he's better than Bentley for me,  who never commanded his area and albeit a good shot stopper was poor at crosses into the box

  4. I've posted before on this topic but there is great entertainment in non league football for the next month (and beyond)

I've regularly visited (amongst others) Clevedon Town, Ashton and Backwell, Nailsea and Tickenham and Weston. Nice little grounds and you can have a Beer on the terraces watching the game. You'll get a warm welcome

They need your support more than ever in these difficult times for non league. Entry is always reasonable. Even though I'm a South stand season ticket holder I've seen some really entertaining non league games this season

PS having watched Gianni Infantino on TV just now what a complete tool in charge of a corrupt organisation

  5. Best wishes for Alex Fletcher, terribly sad.

Going back to the OP non league football gives good value and tremendous entertainment and you can have a beer stood on the terraces!

City fans. Please support all local clubs during World Cup. I personally have seen some tremendous entertainment at Clevedon Town and Nailsea and Tickenham this season

  6. A team is as good as its foundations as he is a weak link. Over the years and years and years I've watched City keepers we've had some great ones but I'd put Bentley in the average category

Good points- athletic and good shot stopper

Bad points-terrified at crosses, doesn't command the area enough, distribution poor and not vocal enough. Shouldn't have keeper as a captain as cannot influence situations enough. Can be guilty of 'showboating' saves as well

Just as an aside and I won't be a hypocrite Pearson is not the answer to progression in this league. Strange tactics on occasions and play players in correct positions please. Too loyal to some that don't deserve it (Andy King and 'no pace' Matty James)

Only plus point of his tenure for me...gives kids a chance

No progress until clean sheets start happening. I'll be there on Tuesday night but more in hope than expectation

  7. As with every season with the mighty BCFC you start off with hope and occasionally that is fulfilled. However, for me, the matchday experience ie a few beers, some food, a few laughs, a chat about how we'd set up the team and (too regularly in recent seasons) a drink to commiserate afterwards means the most.

    Here's hoping ?

  8. Agree, to a certain extent with OP. Rather have a decent defensive midfielder (with some pace) rather than a key ring.

By the way just ripped off foam and recycled the rest. The recycling boys just took it

Good performance on the pitch rather than gimmicks for me please

  9. Not for me (as a South stand season ticket holder) they are overly praised for me. There is passion all around the stadium. All I saw last season was a complete bunch of tools throwing things and generally behaving like boneheads.

Passion come from within you don't need to be singing to support your team and, given most of the performances at home in recent years its hardly been singing territory.

  10. The club really need to get a grip on bottle throwing and other 'antics' by that lot in the corner. Will they? I doubt it.

Throwing a shoe around whilst team on the pitch were playing well beggars belief

  11. Can't say I'd be sorry to see him go now. Abrasive in interview after game (it appears).

Covid in the family so missed today's game but dodged one by the sound of all reports.

I probably will renew ST as I do every year but with only Fulham showing financial results worse than ours (with a few clubs to still declare) and the possibility of points deduction next season not great at the gate. Still, I'd miss the beer and the friends I see so...here's to next season. A day out every fortnight only spoilt by the 90 mins in the middle
