Rudolf Hucker
BBC Link Times are hard for the Saints. Shame. Southampton are to close parts of their St Mary's Stadium next season as part of the club's cost-cutting measures. Three of the four corners of the stadium will be closed, affecting around 700 season ticket holders. The club believes the changes, in tandem with cuts to subsidised bus travel and match-day staffing, will save up to £250,000. "We deeply regret having to take these measures," football club chairman Michael Wilde told the club website. "But unfortunately they have been forced upon us by the financial situation we find ourselves in. "We now have to make some unpleasant and unpalatable decisions to get the finances back on track." The areas will be reopened for games where huge crowds are expected. Meanwhile, the club have yet to announce which out-of-contract players they intend to keep next season. There could be changes as new head coach Dutchman Jan Poortvliet runs the rule over the current squad. Among those waiting to hear their future are Nathan Dyer, Inigo Idiakez, Darren Powell and Jermaine Wright, who will be free agents.
dezgimed
Do the corners travel in by bus for every home game then? :noexpression:

sunningdalered
All corners to be taken from one corner flag? Good shout I foresee some controversy ahead for them down there this season - there's bound to be trouble every time the ball goes over one of the jumpers they're using instead of the goalposts (which they've had to sell to replace the one corner flag they need now!) BS10 RED
I cant see how this is saving money as there losing the income from those 700 season tickets?
Ciderhead87
I cant see how this is saving money as there losing the income from those 700 season tickets? They have probably just relocated them in the stadium! IMO Southampton are going to be relegated this season, why sack Pearson?
Jordan Tansley
if they don't keep dyer can we have him? although he lacks consistency and his end product is occasionally poor, i would like to see him here he is quick, had a geat game against us at AG, he is ENGLISH(so might be valuable in the future)
Never to the dark side
Just don't know what to think of this decision by southampton I did say at the time if they could shift those season ticket holders over a bit they could have had another 1,000 to 2,000 City fans in the away end approx extra money at 25 pounds a time equals to between 25,000 and 50,000 extra pounds ah well such is life
