Best Game You Have Ever Seen

I was going through my fond memories of City and the amount of fantastic games I have been to.

So I was thinking, why not share them with everyone else and get everyone elses opinions on game?

Whether it be for the atmosphere, the game, the result, the outcome or any other reason, what is the best city game you have ever been to?

My Top 5 are:

1) Mansfield Town 4-5 Bristol City - This game had everything. Goals, action, red cards and (at the time) an incredibly cute mascot, which was me :D . It was a great day out for my birthday and it had been stuck in the memory.

Just a few minutes before the end of the game when we were losing 4-2, my dad and AshtonKate were joking about how I was an unlucky mascot and would be working home if we lost! Then we scored 3 goals in 5 minutes to win 5-4!

2) Middlesbrough 2-2 Bristol City AET - A long trip but a great day! Me and a few mates skived school and when up on CATS to the Riverside and it took f*cking ages! We got there and I wanted to go to the shop to buy a pennant as I collect them and my mates didnt want to but I persuaded them and wr walked past a camera and 3 out of the 4 of us waved as the other one said we wouldnt get on TV but we did! I don't remember much of the game apart from the atmostphere was quality! What I do remember is that me and my friend were talking and all of a sudden we turned round and go is that Noble? Go on Nobes Go on Son then went mental! I got back to school the next day and got asked by my PE teacher (Burnley fan) why i was off? I said I was ill sir he goes you lier I saw you on TV!

3) Charlton Athletic 1-1 Bristol City - Not the best of games but oh my god the city fans were out of this world! We sang for the whole 90 minutes and I ended up losing my voice! This was the game where we went Top of the league and it was just amazing! Also it was the match when some genius first sang, ''We're Bristol City, We Always Believe''.

The flare was also a nice touch!

4) Bristol City 3-1 Rotherham United - Best day of my life! Promotion was out of this world! The pitch invaison was quality! I was one of the first on from the Dolman and accidently tripped someone up  ! On the pitch I hugged Jennison Myrie-Williams who was loving it and picked up Brian Wilson but only then to drop him as he was heavy (seen his muscles :o)! Then we had a massive party to celebrate and i got totally hammered and when to the promotion thingy in Bristol the next day! Brilliant! :D

5) Crystal Palace 1-2 Bristol City - Went up on the train with a couple of mates and it didnt start to well as my mates dad got in the ground pissed and got chucked out! But the victory was ace! The city goals were awesome and our fans were also! Even better we beat Colin's stuck up team and fans! :D

Forest league cup semi final burned on to my memory forever, Walshy was brilliant, the whole ground was rocking

Walsall away first year the play offs were introduced, so close

Sheff Utd play off game when you had to play the team from the Div above

Freight Rover final at Wembley, Terry Cooper had finally brought us back from the brink!!

Reading at home Sept 27 1983, my first floodlight game and we won 3-1

Beating Chelsea at home in the cup, see Forest game for atmosphere

Promotion back to this current level under Jordan, it felt like City really were back, I always thought if a Jock job hadn't have come calling for Big Joe we could've made top flight again

Charlton away last year, came out of the ground and thought we'd do it auto

Palace home and away in the play offs just effin brilliant

No particular order in the above

Beating the Gas in the 1983 (I think) FA Cup 2nd Round(?) in IKEA's car park, the score was 2-1 and I think Martyn Hirst scored the winner. I was only thinking about this game the other day; I went with some mates from school and I can remember the atmosphere was amazing, Rovers were in the division above us at the time and nobody gave us a chance. We were singing and chanting from about 1pm to well after the game on the way out, I couldn't speak at all the next day! :dancing6:

Mansfield 4 City 5 was amazing BUT Cardiff 1 Bristol City 3 will live with me forever!!! The whole day is what following your team away is all about (well used to be anyway)

Getting the early Train into Cardiff central, remember walking out of station and seeing old bill everywhere! Marched straight into a city only pub just down the road, singing and drinking all morning/afternoon!

Remember the escort to the ground very well, being marched through the back streets of Cardiff, Cardiff fans trying to have a pop at any given time!!

Sounds strange but the buzz of having to watch your back, i will never forget!!!!

When Cardiff went 1up i will admit i have never heard anything like it! The noise they made was amazing, but then Scott Murrays 2 goals will live in my memory forever!!!

Mansfiled 4-5 BCFC - Probably the best I've been to, made the journey home much shorter, fantastic scenes in the away end, just absolute mayhem.

Hartlepool at the gate in the playoff semi final also sticks in the mind.

When we played the Gas at their shit heap and Phillips saved the penalty. Made the evening, Phillips sent the gas down even though it was a crap match.

A long time ago, so the exact details escape me.the era of Bob Taylor etc.

It was against Swindon in the 2nd leg of a league cup tie. We were 3-0 down from the 1st leg at their place, so out of the tie really, but City came out of the blocks flying! Quickly went 2-0 up (I think!) but eventually won 4-2 so lost over the 2 legs. But I remember it as being one of the most exciting, fast flowing end to end games I have ever seen.

Took my die-hard Spurs nephews to that game as they were visiting from Guernsey, and they still talk about it (and "Super Bob") whenever I see them now!

The ones that stick with me are ;

City V Bolton Wembley 1986, as a 10 year old sitting amongst all those city fans that day still gives we goosebumps when I think about it now.

City v Stoke, January 2005, FA Cup replay Away. Won 3-1. I had just passed my test and had a battered old Talbot Solara with no heater. Anyone that remembers that night will remember how cold it was. I was scaping ice off the inside of the car. Then it snowed!

Forest Home and away in the Cup. We were so close.

Charlton Away last year, the atmosphere was something special.

:gasmask: No gas ere! Have many over the years but last years play off semi,s were something else for sheer highs. For differant reasons obviously last years final at wembley cos although we lost i felt we could have scored anytime until the final whistle. For me the second half seemed 10 minutes long and i have never had that at a football game before. :city:

There was a simlar thread to this not too long back, and I'll go with the same answer.

Pretty certain it was 5th March 1991. City 1 Gash 0, Donowa last minute. Never heard a noise like that at the Gate when Louie rolled that one in. Add in Hollowhead's pen being saved by Leaning in front of a packed East End and that made it the perfect evening. I did believe in God for a few hours after that game!

City vs Orient back in very early seventies. Was taken along to Ashton Gate by my Sisters boyfriend who was an Orient fan. Half time we were 3-1 down and I could'nt shut him up.

Storming second half and we beat them 5-3 !!

Cant single out one city game as a performance based one as there have been many,

for emotional value the play offs against hartlepool at home or the last game of season when we were promoted

from league 1 v rotherham.

Also versus middlesborough - both games home and away!

The best game of football and the most exciting game has to be Liverpool v West ham in the fa cup final

Quality game
