But it's part of his job to find out about a player's availability, price etc. etc., so I'd expect Pete to make the initial enquiries about a potential deal. We went in for George Friend, decided he wasn't worth the cash so backed off. That would suggest that we are looking to add another natural left back but we won't bring in players who don't improve the first team, or have the potential to.
