Port Said Red
I have racked my brains but can't come up with all 11 players, I am sure that someone will be able to fill in the gaps for you. -------------------Cashley--------- Sweeney---------Merrick--------Collier---------? (definitely not Drysdale) Tainton----------Gow-----------Mann--------------Whitehead ----------------Ritchie-------------------Cheeseley No guarantees Spud it's off the top of my head and an old mans memory start's to fade. My memory was that Dicks let Drysdale go as soon as we got promoted. Oh well... at least that fills in the gap for me. Thanks
Drew Peacock
Drysdale was in the team until Novemberish I think when we bought Norman Hunter and Merrick moved to left back.
december 1963
Brian Drysdale played for the first 8 or 9 First Division games. His last game was round about the home defeats by either Leicester or Ipswich. He played in the opening game at Highbury
nester
what a team that was ... wonder how they'd do in this Div.
red herring
That match, still talked about in hushed tones in our house. Paul Cheesley's goal, city's finest hour. As we left the ground the earth started shaking. Around the corner came 10,000 angry Arsenal fans. we were out numbered 5-1. I legged it, hense I lived to tell the tale. Spud55
what a team that was ... wonder how they'd do in this Div. Probably get relegated, as we wouldn't finish a game with more than about 5 players on the pitch
oggysouthwest
We also got Peter Cormack and Joe Royal
fct
Didn't Royle join in City's third season in the old first? I recall him scoring 4 on his debut Vs Middlesbrough. As to Drysdale, yes he was in the first team for the start, and city began fairly well, but defeats at home to Leicester and Birmingham (both 0-1s I recall) meant Dicks had to ring the changes and "Speedy" had to go.
