Wolves

Kinda surprising this considering last year we sold out in no time and were begging Wolves for more tickets! Has that feeling of optimism really died down that much??

its simple...

1) credit crunch, people just havent got the money

2) been there last season. not so much novelty value for most away trips this season.

3) early kick off

4) still fairly early in the season

having said that i would suprised if we don't take up the at least 75% of our allocation by next sat. but we wont get the same volumes of away support this year, particularly early in the season, alot of people are feeling the pinch. if we get past xmas and we are right in the mix then this will change for alot of the later games.

West Midlands Police are numero uno!! Absolute clowns up there last season. They let us out of the ground, then tried to huddle us all by the turnstiles to wait for the home fans leave... where we waited until the inevitable and the Wolves hoolies attacked us!

Once the WMP regaines control of there own farce, they decided to march most City fans to the train station 'for our safety'. Problem most of the fans were parked in the Asda next to the ground, so then had to walk back across Wolverhampton, in City colours, with no police anywhere.

Retarded.

About spot on I'd say.

It wasn't exactly a pleasant day out at Wolves last season and what people will be thinking is "do I want all that again"...

Yep, not a pleasant experience last year - thanks in no small part to our chav element. Giving Wolves a wide berth this year.

Ah the lovely WMP... Herding us all towards the station when we clearly told them we were parked the complete other side of town, and then threatening us (including my mother) with a baton when we dared head towards our car.

Thanks in much bigger part to the West Midlands Police.

Anyone in the Wetherspoons having a peaceable pint and a meal before the arrival of the WMP dictatorship will testify to that.

The scenario.

Couple of hundred City and a sprinkling of Wolves, enjoying a pint and a chat. No trouble. Not one bit.

Police arrive. Order bar staff to stop serving at 1pm. Completely surround pub to stop anyone leaving. Kept us there for half an hour. Some City fans understandably lost it. Police eventually insisted on marching us to the ground an hour and a half before kick off. At one time I tried to leave the forcible escort and was pushed back in and threatened by a police officer.

Now. Why a handful of police couldnt just walk in, have a friendly chat with people who were also very willing to be friendly, and defuse a situation - if they saw a situation, when in fact there wasnt one - rather than inflame it, is completely beyond me.

Yes, there may have been a so called chav element there. But. The so called chav element in the main seek out their so called chav counterparts. Innocent people do not generally get caught up in their activites. The police on the other hand seem to revel in subverting the enjoyment of the innocent majority.

Thats my experience of the police at football matches, and only, it should be said, at football matches.

You obviously never went to Sheff. Utd last season then. For all the problems with the Police at Wolves, they were duplicated at Sheffield.

To be fair I didnt think they were too bad at Sheffield.

Two pubs straight off the train for City fans, police enforced route march to the ground admitedly, however since thats where youre going anyway, and they didnt throw you out until a reasonable time before kick off, I thought better than at Wolves.

I'm off to Wolves and Sheff Utd.

Does anyone know where we get dropped off with CATS at Sheffield?

And does anyone know how many we've sold for Wolves ATM?

I went with CATS when we played them in the relegation game last time up (May 99 I believe) and the CATS coaches arrived right outside the ground and police forced people straight inside the ground at about 1pm. Even though IIRC there was a petrol station just up the road but they simply got people right off the coach and into the ground. Arses.

Plus at Sheffield they were happy to chat to us outside the pubs and were quite open about their plans to escort us to the ground.

Treating us as domesticated pets rather than wild animals if you like. Still not ideal but better than many other areas of the country.

Agree with you Madger........treated us very well

When we arrived we were told by a nice Bobby that the pub was full up but there is a nice bar across the road with plenty of room....and there was too

We were able to sit on a nice sun terrace and get served with no queue...very nice

Then another nice friendly officer came over and asked us if we would "like" to join the escort which would be leaving in about 10 minutes........and he genuinley meant "like to join" - it was our choice

He said it was recomended as the locals have a reputation for jumping stragglers on the way to the ground

We duly joined in and walked up with everyone else
