The coach of the Australian national side, Dutch-man Pim Verbeek, has advised Crystal Palace midfielder to move away from the club if he has any aspirations of playing international football.

Carle has been capped by the Socceroos seven times so far in his career, but the 26-year-old has been left out of the squad for the upcoming World Cup qualifier against Qatar later this month.

"Nicky's qualities are with the ball, shooting at goal, bringing other players into scoring positions," Verbeek remarked.

"But he never gets the ball. He has to win second balls at Palace and this isn't one of his strong points."

Carle only signed for the Eagles this summer from Championship rivals Bristol City after impressing for them last season. He moved to the Robins from Turkish club Genclerberligi, a switch Verbeek believes could cost the player.

It seems that Verbeek feels that the midfielder would have benefitted from moving anywhere but England.

"Players like Nicky should never go to England," stated Verbeek.

"It's a pity because Nicky's a very talented player. He has something special, but there's a lot of competition for him in the national side."

poor nicky!
