Inconsistent Line Ups = Inconsistent Performances

Last season it was fairly easy to predict what the team was going to be every week - we had a settled side, were pretty lucky with injuries and had a clear first choice for pretty much evey position in the side. Consistent, cohesive performances therefore ensued and we had an amazing season without really setting the world alight in too many games.

This season is an altogether different story. We've had medium term injuries to key players at different times (Elliot, Mccombe, Carey, Mcallister, Basso) and have rarely had the luxury of putting the same 11 out for more than two games in a row.

Similarly, with the strikers Maynard has taken time to find his feet, Trundle remains an enigma and Adebola is great but will never be prolific. Hence, Gary has struggled to find a solution up front.

This has resulted in some pretty average performances as the differing line-ups get used to playing with different players and different formations.

Despite all this, we're still only 3 points off the play offs (amazing given only two wins at home) and handily placed for an assault on the top six.

Everybody is now fit, Maynard is hopefully finding his feet so will be given a run in the side and hopefully we can have a more settled side.

If we can ship out one or two on loan in the next 24 hours (Brooker, JMW?) and push the boat out for a quality winger (Scott Sinclair?) we ought to be able to look forward to a good December.

City were apparently on the verge of taking a couple of Chelsea reserves on loan a while back, but speaking last night GJ reckons from now on any available are most likely to join former Chelsea youth boss Brendan Rodgers at Watford.
