Red to the world
Excluding all cup and playoff games and just in the CCC " normal " fixtures this calendar year, City have played 44 won 14 drawn 16 and lost 14. This would give us 58 points from 44 matches, an average of 1.32 per game. Make of that what you will !

In a division we strove unsuccessfully years to get to and where we always said we accepted it would take us years to establish ourselves. We did fantastically last year and nearly made it which with the Premier League revenue stream would have made it a whole different ball game. It was always going to be harder 2nd year when we didn't go up even more with the extra quality in the div (Brum, Reading, Wolves much improved, Sheff Utd much more consistent etc etc) and some of our players have been significantly below last years level, Maynard yet to produce consistently (he's young and for the future), some poor errors through the team, loss of confidence amongst some and injuries. GJ needs to try to stick to a line-up and a shape and get some new players in in January. But why when we are effectively mid-table are so many pressing the panic button? Is there now a view that we are a Premier League club in waiting? yes last year raised expectations but for me shouldn't really change anything, it's about long-term growth and sustainability - we were an unknown quantity performing well above expectations last year in a weak division. Yes we need to get it together soon and start moving up the table a bit but a bit less panic and a lot less carping would probably help.

Make of that what you will ! thats good, if 2008 was a season, with 2 games to go we'd be easily safe from relegation and about 10 points off the play off pack. Admittedly we'd be in mid table obscurity but id be happy if we have 58 points after 44 games this season.
bh_red
just goes to prove 2008 has actually been a bit of a crappy year for City, yes we reached the play-off final, however in the wider picture, it's not be great. 2007 however was a GREAT year. Clearly we're better in the 'odd' years; 2006 = lose 7-1 at Swansea 2007 = promotion 2008 = lose play-off final 2009 = ... So here's to a fantastic 2009!
