Us_and_Them
Bolton away 89/90, i lost the sight in one of my eyes that day at the age of 16 due to some bolton fan throwing a full can of drink which hit me in the right eye causing me to loose my sight in that eye, just wondered if anyone else remembers that day? EmersonsKev
Yes I remember that game vividly, it is actually one of my first footballing memories. I also remember that day for all the wrong reasons aged 7 myself and my farther we driven at by some wreckless Bolton fan and my father was actually struck getting me out of the way. Lucky for us we didn't sustain any lasting injuries.
Us_and_Them
there is alot of bad memories from all points of view that day, police and stewards didnt realise how many city were going to be there that day, they had to open up the space right next to the bolton fans as there waas not enough room behind goal and supermarket . it was quite hectic at one point. ciderup
Remember that day well and sorry to hear of the terrible accidents that happened to both of you. I remember a little off licence opposite the open area at the back of the main stand. Myself and a few mates popped in to get a few tinnies as the pubs were rammed. The offy was one of those old fashioned places where the spirits were on high shelves with a ladder fixed to the shelves on rollers. The old boy behind the counter was asked for a bottle from the top shelf. By the time he had wheeled his ladder round to the right place, climbed it, grabbed the bottle and climbed back down, the offy was pretty much emtied of all booze. There was one fella with a supermarket trolley full of stuff from the offy selling it cheap! The police did totally underestimate our following that day. What did they expect, we needed a point to go up if I remember rightly!
Us_and_Them
was being conservative of our following that day, prob near 3000+ in that old shed of a ground! the worst bit though is even though i lost eye sight in one eye when i got on ward the tv said is 1-1 which cherred me up only to find not only did i lose one of my eyes we lost aswell, gutted is understatement! got arrested in ambulance as they thought i was a trouble maker only for them to work out that i waas an innocent 16 year old who haad just been blinded for life from a bolton fan! i9 hate them! understandable don't u think? Sorry to hear about the eye, i got a feeling Brown, the Hull manager played for them that day, went to Blackpool after, absolute chaos all night, the Manchester bar was like something from the wild west, the Bristol police spent the next 3 months going up and down Filwood Broadway with photographs looking for the troublemakers! It's a horrible story mate, sorry to hear it. Whoever that coward was, I hope he knows what he did that day and it has preyed on his mind ever since. I didn't go to that game but the only time I went to Bolton was a good few years earlier. It was before they shortened the away end so it was a huge open end with no segregation. The City fans were grouped at the back of it ringed by police while the Bolton fans lobbed things over from all sides. Horrible day, we lost 1-0 and they went top of the League. I remember Sam Allardyce was playing. I've never been back to Bolton since that day and frankly don't have any wish to.

I think i can remember you, were you wearing a City Home shirt when this happend ?? i remember seeing someone about your age sat on a chair in front of us before you were being lead around the pitch with blood pouring from the side of your face ?? Sorry to be see so graphic but i remember this well A load of City were climbing over the railings to get into the section they opened because of the big crowd and the Old Bill pulled them all out and arrested them !!!! , i was also 16 at the time, i can also remember some P1ss head climbed up one of the flood lights and decided to take a leak over everyone below, the old bill were useless some City fan's were threatning to kick his head in, then the Cheif Inspector came into our section asking the Guy to get down, when he did'nt responde the Copper shrugged his shoulders and walked off !! When the game finished on our way back to the Minibus some Bolton walked past us mouthing off we ignored them but 4 City fan's got out of their Car and chased after them !! Got what a bad day out this was, and to top it all the Sags won and closed the gap further on us
