Nogbad the Bad
There were 8 players featured in the 68/69 Old First Division 'World of Soccer Stars' sticker collection who went on to play for BCFC. Four were: Norman Hunter & Terry Cooper (Leeds) Bobby Gould (Arsenal) Joe Royle (Everton) To put Malone and Red Goblin out of their misery on the non-footy Forum, can you name the other 4, (1 quite easy, 2 difficult, 1 obscure) and their teams? Goblin's got the 'easy' ones, can anyone get the rest?

Mr Mosquito
I know Bill Shankley would have been Liverpool manager and not a player in the late 1960's but - according to 22A of this forum - Bill Shankley played a game for us during the war. So is the legendary Bill Shankley one of the other four?

So is the legendary Bill Shankley one of the other four? No, all these players were in First Division Squads (squads of just 15 in those days) in 1968-69, and went on to play for Bristol City in the 70's. They're not easy, but they are gettable if fans of that era rack their brains. City didn't used to sign 6 players a season in those days, in fact new signings ( whether permanent or loan ) were few and far between.

Nogbad the Bad
Ernie Hunt? Peter Cormack? Good one OD, Ernie Hunt (Coventry) makes 5. Peter Cormack's a good guess, but wasn't at Liverpool in 68/69 - must have still been playing in Scotland. 3 to go, getting more difficult now. Les Wilson of Wolves is correct, signed along with Brian Hill. Joe Durrell was fairly young when we signed him, wasn't he? Last one to go.

Reg Hill
Les Wilson of Wolves is correct, signed along with Brian Hill. Joe Durrell was fairly young when we signed him, wasn't he? Last one to go. Nogbad - was Brian Hill signed from Coventry? I followed them in the 60s and 70s (had the misfortune to live there) and they had a classy left half/centre back of that name in the George Curtis era. Probably in the side that was promoted to the old 1st division in 67 but don't think he figured much afterwards as Dave Clements was a regular in that position. If it was the same player what was he like here?

They did the job they were brought in to do, but both seemed nothing more than steady, journeymen players. I don't remember either being classy, but Hill would have been 4 years older by then anyway. Someone else may remember them better.
