It is well known that our options are limited at the back, and with no immidiate solution coming (thats neither here nor there) I had a thought.

Marv can play right back, hes done it before but should McCombe, Fonts and the Skipper get injured could Marv fill in at centre back? Hes tall, strong tackler, good in the air and quick, quicker than our current CB's anyway.

Skuse has filled in there but IMO hes too small to make an effective CB. Elliot could be the solution. OK we would lose his effectiveness in CM but as an emergency I think he could be a half decent CB.

Thoughts?

We've got three first team centre halves plus James Wilson.

Orr as first choice right back with both Wilsons as cover.

McAllister as first choice left back with Brian Wilson and Fonts as cover.

We've also got Ribeiro out injured who can compete across the back line when recovered.

I'd like to see us sign a specialist left sided player to compete with McAllister but other than that I don't think we're too badly off for defenders.

I'd certainly think that Elliott has to stay in central midfield unless we have a truly disastrous run of injuries and for some reason can't loan.

At 6'1" Skuse is not only taller than Marvin Elliot but also taller than both Carey and Fontaine. With the right players alongside him I think Skuse would make an excellent centre half and it would be nice to have one who can play a bit too. I certainly wouldn't waste Elliot at the back unless we were desperate.
