westred1
A lot of people were chanting 'thief' in the Eastend because they thought Wright-Phillips had come on. And everytime he got the ball he got jeered and called a thief. But it wasn't Wright-Phillips! Anyone else notice this?

chinapig
Wright-Phillips and McGoldrick were apparently arrested this week for assault according to Southampton boards. Perhaps a lack of discipline is one of the reasons for Saints' problems? They need a Gary figure to sort them out rather than a Dutch youth coach. Admin phantom Posted February 15, 2009 Admin Report Share Posted February 15, 2009 Fan accuses Saints players David McGoldrick and Bradley Wright-Phillips Wednesday 11th February 2009 By Peter Law » POLICE investigating claims that two Saints stars were involved in a street brawl with a fan in Southampton are to trawl through CCTV footage from the night. The Daily Echo yesterday revealed that strikers David McGoldrick and Bradley Wright-Phillips were allegedly involved in an incident in the early hours of Saturday outside The Giddy Bridge pub in London Road. It has since emerged that a large group of Saints players were out drinking in the city centre on the same night after their Championship match against Watford had been postponed due to bad weather. The players spent much of the night at the Buddha Lounge, in Vernon Walk, a bar part-owned by former Saints captain Claus Lundekvam. Police launched their investigation after a 21-year-old man claimed that he had been assaulted as he was making his way home from the city centre. It is understood he alleged that he was left covered in takeaway food and nursing grazes and bruising following the incident. There have been no arrests, but police have confirmed that they are investigating an allegation of assault at the junction of London Road and Cumberland Place between 2am and 2.15am on Saturday. A statement was taken from the fan at Southampton central police station and officers are due to review CCTV footage from the night. The club has so far refused to comment on the investigation. Wright-Phillips was last year cleared of any involvement in a raid on the staff room of a Hampshire nightclub which saw team-mate Nathan Dyer sentenced to 60 hours of community service after admitting burglary. Wright-Phillips, 23, will be out of contract at the end of the season, while McGoldrick, 21, is contracted to Saints until 2011.
