Momentum: Win Or Wane?

If we lose to Birmingham, the momentum will be in danger of disappearing. That would make it 2 defeats and 1 draw in the last four games, and the winning habit could be over, particularly with a tough away day at Derby to come.

A draw would actually be a good result considering the opposition, but the momentum would be again the balance come Derby on Saturday.

A win, and not only do we go up to fourth in the league, but that habit of turning teams over continues, not to mention another big team put to the sword to further boost self-belief. We'd be flying with a great chance to edge away from the pack in the next few games.

Momentum makes a big difference in football.

Have to agree with that ,although realistically were not really looking at automatic. We could lose both games and still be in with a good sniff of that elusive 6th place.

I think good performances are of the utmost and with any luck good results will be the reward.

We have to keep with the pack, if we can get a point from B'ham that should keep us in the hunt, but we really have to win this game at all costs to endure top 6 becomes a reality, not far to go now.

Our away form has been great, lets hope B'ham slip up, who's this De La Cruz chap from Villa they signed, I always though he was a great player, Birmingham are still a Premier League side and will be playing there again next season, a real benchmark test for us.

Good post and good point.

I'm pleased Derby were unable to hold on to their lead yesterday for the same reason, as after winning four matches in a row they now have gone two games without victory and might be looking over their shoulders again.

Blackpool was gutting, but this squad has a very good habit of reacting to underperformance by working twice as hard the next game, which works well with Brum slightly depleted by injury and n a less than stunning run.

A point tonight would be great and I'd take it right now, but a win could mean a lot, especially with a difficult run ahead.

Coventry at home looks particularly difficult, as does Cardiff at the Gate, and we could do with both of those teams 'slowing' a bit over the weekend...
