vincent_bcfc
Did anyone see the interview with Sir Tom Finney in the Daily Mail yesterday? He was talking about how there is to much money in football etc... and said "There's one lad in the championship who drives around in a baby bentley - he gets a few goals but still ridiculous" Without a moments hesitation I thought of Michael Mcindoe Just thought I'd mention it
iWurzel
Could well be Mr Mac but I doubt very much that he is the only "lad in the Championship" who drives a Bentley. Unfortunately for as long as footballers are paid silly wages they will continue to buy flashy cars, it comes with the territory!

Admin Ian M Posted March 20, 2009 Admin Report Share Posted March 20, 2009 .......... and he doesn't score "a few goals". Oh yes he does! Google's definition of a few: "more than one but indefinitely small in number".
BrizzleRed
Oh yes he does! Google's definition of a few: "more than one but indefinitely small in number". I'll happily give you that one then Madger, I'd always though a few was more than that. Hey, that means we've got loads of players who score a few goals!!! Hey, that means we've got loads of players who score a few goals!!! I'd think Maynard and Ade just about qualify for "quite a few" Quite a few: "An indefinite and somewhat large number; more than a few but fewer than a lot; a fair number of"

Let's be honest, if Sir Tom was around playing today, he'd be driving a Bentley or something similar.
cheshire_red
I've met Sir Tom a number of times, he watches his local cricket team, Fulwood & Broughton CC, most weeks. When he was playing he also worked as a Plumber and has kept the firm going ever since. Not surprisingly he has a fair few customers in the Preston area. An absolute Gentleman who never has a bad word to say about anyone.

If i was a footballer on stupid money i would also have a flash car - You only live once so why not drive about in a decent car, beats driving about in an astra! It's nothing but a scornful laugh in the face of working class fans. If you got an expensive car and works at IKEA that's great but you are not allowed to park it at the employees car park. Ingvar Kamprad took that decision a long time ago.

Port Said Red
I think I am right in saying that McIndoe has invested his money wisely and has made more money outside the game. Is he to be criticised for that? Perhaps he should waste it in the bookies/casinos or in the pub instead?
Andy082005
As if he wouldn't have a flash car if he could afford it in his 20's! I agree with you here. These players from back in the 60s, 70s and even 80s etc, they must look on with a bit of jealousy now.....I don't care what anyone says, your bound to. All this "in my day, football was REAL football"..... mmmmm these grapes taste sour
