bristolcitysweden
Ten goals in seven matches in the Swedish championship. 21 years old and on the verge of signing for Swedish champions Kalmar FF before the season but they wanted to sign him for four years and he only wanted two. Recent trial at Udinese. Got pace and technique. http://www.svenskfotboll.se/t2.aspx?p=1521...1&a=1168917 http://www.svenskfotboll.se/t3supPl.aspx?p...p;playerid=5164

Bris Red
Why the negativity????? Ever heard of Henrik Larson, Freddie ljungberg etc.etc. Exactly, Zlatan Ibrahimović started his career at minos Malmö and look at him know argubaly one of the best strikers in the world.. There are tons of gems out in Europe but as we have seen with Styvar they might not be instant hits and take time settle in, i personally would be all for taking a gamble on a swedish guy if his goal scoring record was impressive. simon uk
indeed, there are plenty of scandinavians making good careers throughout europes top leagues, and Sweden have consistently qualified for major tournaments and have a strong national team, why the negativity? Simon79
When i read about this lad in the swedish league,it got me thinking of a lad called James Keene. He plays in the swedish top league for a team that for now escapes me(sure they were in one of the european qualifying rounds). But he is a striker, was at Portsmouth, made 1 sub appearance i think.Scored regulary for there reserves.Teddy Sheringham once said he was one to watch for the future. Also a fairly local lad from Wells.Worth a look? Sure got the potential. Had a couple of very good seasons for GAIS, one of the smaller clubs in the prem, before he was signed by Elfsborg on a five year deal ending in 2011. Cookie
James Keene had a loan move at Bournemouth 4 yrs ago and didn't make much impact - No future in English football esp not the Championship.

Solskjaer's first team aren't even in business any more (Clausenengen) and the team Schmeichel played for when he was 21 (Hvidovre IF) aren't exactly world beaters. How about John Arne Riise or Ronny Johnsen? Both played at the top level, started off at "really rubbish leagues".
SyntaxtheRed
I went to school with James Keene, played football with him in his back garden, needless to say he was a lot better than me, .

joli12
Speaking of Elfsborg theres an ex-posh player in their squad; Helgi Danielsson. My grandfolks are poshies I am sure they would like to hear how he's doing (he was a favourite apparantly) if our resident Swede could do some translating for me!
