Southampton have sold 21,500 tickets for this game tomorrow and are exacted a huge walk up turnout on the day so should reach 25,000.

We couldn't even cope with 11,000 with our ticket office.

Its a good turn out for sure but are they not desperate for cash and so there are two reasons for going to this match.

you normally get more fans go to a weekend friendly than a week night one, good job ours wasn't on a Saturday we may have had trouble getting in

Is it there first home friendly since been taken over? It is pardews first game in charge and next season they will be playing the likes of Rovers so of course there going to turn out for there one glamour game of the season.

Their average attendance last year was 17.5k so it won't be that suprising to see over 20k if they have a new manager etc. I suspect with their set-up they won't have the problems we had on Tuesday too. One of the major problems with Ashton Gate is the is cramped in with hardly any space between the Dolman & Atyeo ticket office.

The other factor is probably sheer relief that there is still a club to support!! For a while it looked a bit hairy and they lost so many quality players while they were in administration, so the fans probably are keen to celebrate the continued existence of Southampton FC. Fair play to them and I bet they are thrilled at the prospect of playing minnows like Bristol Rovers.

season ticket holders get in for free and they gave tickets out to schools and local teams for free

Interesting to see how many Ajax fans have sobered up enough to attend, and whether their superb passing team can notch double figures.
