Scott is from Aberdeen and started his career playing for Fraserburgh of the Highland league. He got his break when "Big" Ron Atkinson, who was then manager of Aston Villa, signed him in 1995. Scott is such a nice chap that he insisted on working out his notice in his job as a fork lift driver before starting as a pro at Villa. Scott stayed at Villa for a season but never got much of a run in the first team so in December 1997 Scott was sold to City.

Scott's best season to date was in 02/03 season where he was top scorer. He was voted Supporters Club player of the year after a brilliant season on the right wing where he terrorised full backs with his pace and his crossing. He caught the eye of Reading and was transferred there in the summer of 2003.

Despite a good start he fell from favour when the manager changed and transferred back to City in March 2004 to the delight of city fans who never wanted scott to leave.

Scott is now in the top 10 all time goal scorers at bristol city, over the years he has been with city he has been a fans favourite for his goals, his play and passion for city, the trade mark goal pose city fans will always remember at cardiff away, scott has now left city at the end of 2008/09 season for yeovil but was given a the applause of ashton gate in his last game for the club, good luck scotty we will miss you...
