City linked to new striker -

Paul Gallagher has accepted that his Blackburn career is over and is braced for a move away from Ewood Park.

The Scot, who turns 25 this weekend, is the longest serving player currently at the club after breaking into the first team in 2003.

Gallagher has found himself fall down the pecking order greatly and in recent seasons has found himself on loan at the likes of Stoke City, Plymouth Argyle and Preston North End.

Following the arrival of Franco Di Santo and Nikola Kalinic to Ewood Park, Gallagher is now the club's fifth-choice striker and could be in line for a move across Lancashire after the Lilywhites showed recent interest in signing him along with Derby County and Bristol City. Premier League newcomers Burnley were also believed to be tabling a bid.

Rovers boss Sam Allardyce is expected to accept as little as £1 million for the forward who, earlier this year, said he would not object to Gallagher leaving.

"If a club came in with an acceptable offer I don't think we would stand in Paul's way", he said.

Apparantly he blew a bit hot and cold last year. Plymouth fan I work with thinks he'd be a reasonable signing for any championship club as long as he realises that this is his level, and doesn't continue to think that he's a Premier League player slumming it in the championship. He's in the last year of his contract and apparantly Blackburn have been throwing his name around all the championship clubs so you might be able to pick him up for £500k which wouldn't be too bad a signing.
