Red_Mat
Courtesy of babelfish: "Adriano Basso you give to sign. The Sport Lisbon and Benfica are give to sign contract with Adriano Basso. Sources next to the process affirm that the agreement is for briefing and the presentation can already be made in the next game to carry through in the Stadium of the Light. The adepts are in euphoria and anxious for seeing Adriano Basso to the service of the Biggest Club of the World." Biggest Club in the world?! I think Real Madrid, Man Utd, Barcelona, Liverpool, Bayern Munich, Juventus, Milan, Inter, Chelsea, Arsenal, et al., might have something to say about that... Good match, I suppose, though. He gets to play at the highest level - as he wanted - for more money, plus, it puts him in the spotlight at a Portuguese speaking club - his natural language - just in time for the World Cup. He badly wanted to play in that, too. Might mean we get good money for him, too.

Kjetil N
Haha.. Funny. The local newspaper in Kristiansand, Norway, was also fooled today, with Start Kristiansand's star player Christian Bolanos also being about to sign for Befica - only to put up a new piece of news a few hours later saying that it was just an internet joke. Well well. Kjetil

Olé
Biggest Club in the world?! I think Real Madrid, Man Utd, Barcelona, Liverpool, Bayern Munich, Juventus, Milan, Inter, Chelsea, Arsenal, et al., might have something to say about that... Depends what you measure biggest club by. Benfica are in the Guinness Book of Records as having the largest number of registered membership-fee paying supporters (known as socios) both in Lisboa and around the world, a record they claimed from Barcelona. It's only one measure of big but quite an important one - there may be plastic Man Utd fans meeting in bars in obscure parts of the world but there are "Casas de Benfica" (literally Benfica Houses) which are social clubs in hundreds of cities on every continent. All with fee paying members sending money back to the club. If it wasn't for Benfica I would never have become a City fan, and yes, the page linked is a spoof, Benfica members can setup a page on the official Benfica website which pretends they have been signed as the new striker.
