It was only sponsorship and the club shop profits keeping them going. 20 years on I'm waiting for a big club to call a press conference announcing they have ceased trading with immediate effect. It'll never happen. Big clubs seem to be allowed to get into as much debt as they want. If Leeds United can survive what they went through then any big team can. Having said that, it would be interesting to see what would happen if Man City's investors suddenly pulled out, leaving them with noone to pay their wage bill...
