Tim S
I see that Paddy Kenny has been banned for nine months..... http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/football/t...utd/8242926.stm Could this see them possibly coming in for an emergency loan for Adriano Basso? Or did they see this coming and sign a keeper in the transfer window? I cant remember what transfers they did and if they signed a keeper or not. The way around a transfer window if they really wanted to do it this way would be that City could terminate Basso's contract by mutual consent leaving him free to join Sheffield Utd even though the transfer window is closed. I might be wrong about that, but Im sure that is a loophole for clubs to sign players isnt it? Then again - having said that we wouldnt get a fee for him that way - unless we did a deal with Sheffield Utd that they pay us a fee some other way? Us_and_Them
Would just be good to get basso off the wage bill in my opinion.
Ronnie Sinclair
They've got Mark Bunn on loan from Blackburn, and have had since the start of the season with Ian Bennett as cover so why would they want Basso?
Red Zeppelin
3 other keepers on their books including Mark Bunn from Blackburn. One is on loan though leaving two GKs.
ballwinningcentrehalf
I'm sure Basso could only play for another club if we had released him before the end of the transfer window. Pretty sure players released after that date still have to wait until January.
DaveF
I think he can leave on loan.
Taz
Couldn't he leave on loan, and a future fee be agreed? Or does the emergency loan system not work in quite that way?
ballwinningcentrehalf
Yeh, I think he could leave on loan. When I said 'Basso could only play for another club...' I was only referring to if he was released by us.
Bounce Around the Ground
Couldn't he leave on loan, and a future fee be agreed? Or does the emergency loan system not work in quite that way? Not much point in a future fee being agreed, unless a team wants to buy him for a small amount in Jan. Taz
Not much point in a future fee being agreed, unless a team wants to buy him for a small amount in Jan. Better than nothing though? To be fair though even to get him off the books for a few months (or even the rest of the season) would benefit us though, especially as his chances of first team football are slim to none now.
