Pete1975Legend
With the recent form of Basso can GJ really drop him to make way for Gerken? I was very impressed with Gerken when he started for us and a lot better than what I had imagined he would be, but we do look a far more solid outfit with Basso in the side and for that reason I think Basso must stay in..... Thoughts?
Admin phantom Posted September 30, 2009 Admin Report Share Posted September 30, 2009 Very easy decision to make, Gerken was playing well before getting ill and without wanting to go on about the whole contract fiasco makes the call easy - Basso must realise that as soon as Gerken and Henderson are fit, he will be back in the stands week in week out ! lifelong
We look a lot more solid unit with Carey in the side
Redmin
This is going to be difficult, but, what a great position to be in with 2 very good keepers A lot depends on where Basso's future lies, I guess if it is not at AG then Gerken will be reinstated. Considering the contract issues, I have been very impressed with Basso in the 2 home games hes played
Tom Fleuriot
No brainer for me. Gerken has been the better keeper and IMO Basso has made no difference to how solid we've looked. If anything we've looked dodgier since Basso came in (which I believe is more due to injuries than basso, but is still true).
westonred
Gerken for me: Bassos kicking is a constant worry, 3 times at Derby and once again last night he kicked straight to an opposition player which immediatley put us back under pressure. He also hasn't signed the contract offered to him so clearly still wants out ..
Tunley Legend
On what i've seen this season it's Gerken for me. I've nothing against Basso but as others have said he has had plenty of time to consider the "issues" he has/had, climb down, and commit his future to the club. As a consequence I would pick the goalkeeper who is both committed and has shown good form this season.
Always Ashton Red
For me its Gerken everytime, Although Basso has done well since he has come in, until he signs a contract i would prefere Gerken
