BS5_RED
American response: http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2010/01/05/k...n_n_412002.html Australian response: http://www.news.com.au/adelaidenow/story/0...5006301,00.html IMO it seems that the Americans have got the context of the ad completely wrong and the ad is NOT a case of old whitey keeping black people down by feeding them fried chicken. Hell, where's the watermelon? Is this ad racist against the English? No. Thought not. However, it was a bit naive of KFC Australia not to think the ad would not be shown in America in todays world. However, the American media are daft enough to think the rest of the world should subscribe their own social taboo's. Anyone back in Bristol care to comment/give a stuff? (Sorry- I'm not back in Bristol). It has been suggested that the African- American slaves in the Southern States were fed Fried Chicken as a cheap and easily available dish (like Water Melon) on a regular basis -hence the association between slavery and the dish. But you would not expect the Australian Copy-writers to pick-up on this. Its really all because the Americans don't play cricket and can't distinguish between West Indian Fans and their own people. Perhaps a Test Match in Atlanta GA ?
southy354
It's easy to see how they got the context wrong, since they don't follow the sport.

Perhaps a Test Match in Atlanta GA ? Exactly - it's all about the context! Bloody Yanks (well American media anyway) jumping wthout seeing what the ad was actually about. Typical. It wasn't as if the guy was also passing out watermelon and shouting "sit down, boy". I acutally HATE also those KFC ads. That Mick needs a slap. Also - I bet you CAN beat that taste. :noexpression: As a cricket tragic, I'd love to see the Yanks give the game a real go, even if its just 20/20. Won't happen though.
