garlicbread
Watching the new footy show last night, Steve Lansdown was quoted as saying that we need to sell before we can buy! Not a boo boy or trying to whip up negativity, but does this now mean that Johnson's position is going to be reviewed in the summer???

cityloyal473
No, it means were not flush with cash and if we want to buy a player, then someone will have to go to free up finances. pretty much the same as 95% of clubs in the country. Redcliffe 78
If we do get anyone in the transfer window i think it will be on loan and even to do that we maybe have to ofload somebody first.
Robbored
Steve Lansdown comes with the pretty much the same warnings about the clubs financial status before each transfer window. It serves to let supporters know that City won't be spending millions and therefore not expect too much. It also serves to let other clubs know that City don't have miilions to spend and that should City make a bid or show interest in one of their players that we won't be paying inflated prices. Perfectly reasonable position to take but if Johnson went to SL asking for such and such a player then I'm sure he wouldn't be refused.
Guest
I think it also serves as a purpose not to advertise that we have money (if we do or don't) and thus alert other clubs to push up asking prices.
RedM
And also we can't keep adding to the squad without shifting a few 'unwanteds' first.
