redrebel
Surely Johnson needs to do something about the defence soon.We seem to win no first ball headers and regularly seem disorganised and very vulnerable to pace.Last night being a good example.Chopra seemed to have acres of space and our defenders seemed rooted to the ground. How can Johnson just carry on as if we haven't got a problem. It must be time to give Ribeiro a chance and add some pace to the defence and tackle a major problem. Night84
I don't think Gerken helps. The defenders are not assured they have a good keeper behind them, The keeper needs to marshall the defence which I don't think he does either. We looked more comfortable with Basso and had pretty much the same defence.
Jon atyeo is my dad
Yes but when basso first came into that side are defence was a shambles Then after time they acted as a solid unit. Gerken needs time. As far as a first ball winner goes I agree we don't have one
jeade
Gerks kicking was shocking and put us under pressure. Biggest issue for me was the amount of times Louis had his arm up appealing for offside when they were clearly on. His appeals almost froze the back four who shoud be concentrating on the basics of just picking up a man. By the name we woke to the onside we had given Choppra a 2/3 yard head start which he didn't need.
Redcliffe 78
The defence was doing ok last night until Chopra came on and started running in behind us which Carey & Fontaine just could not handle which is very worrying on another night he could of had a hat-trick. SyntaxtheRed
I'm massivley underwhelmed by Gerkin and I'm surprised at the praise he seems to get, he looks dodgy from crosses and back passes. general kicking is poor and recently looks particulary shaky. Decent shot stopper I agree though.
winterbournered
I think getting a settled back four would go a long way to helping,i know its not always possible with injuries and suspensions. We've tried wing backs with 3 at the back a flat back 4 but i think the biggest problem is the amount of central partnerships GJ tries and hardly any of them seem to get a run of games together. Would like to see a settled back four consisting of Orr,Carey,Fontaine/Nyatanga and McAllister injury and suspension permitting get a run of games together , get some understanding with each other and work as a unit like the Arsenal defence withs Adams and the rest!!!! So your saying play Riberio someone with no experience playing in the championship ? Surely we need someone with more experience than that to steady the ship. Ribs is one for the future, throw him in now and he will only get slaghtered by the boo boys after a few defeats and that won't do anything for the guys confidence..
