Just Got Back

I could not believe what I witnessed tonight. First ten minutes looked promising but again, we failed to break down a team. Preston we played well, or did they play bad. Either way, they still scored 2!!!

The defence were appauling, the midfield were trying...adn failing and up front, well Maynard was terrible.

Has Johnson lost the dressing room...I am begining to think so, as much as it pains me to say. The two guys he brought in looked good and promising, but we hit the self distruct early and allowed them in easily and several times.

The crowd were right at half time (not often I boo, and can't remember booing) but I had to join in.

So, what for the future, where do we go from here? Does Johnson stay and try and put it right...does Millen stay and put try it right (just had a text 6-0), after all isn't Millen defensive coach?

I am now sat here at home after witnessing a non-league performance against a local rival and for once thinking, it's time for a change in the dug out, and I have not said that at all during Mr J's time in charge, but this cannot continue.

Yes, thats the earliest I have left a game as well. As soon as they scored the 5th. My 6 year old was shivvering which also convinced me but to kick off the second half and go down and score literally score straight away, FFS, that is poor.

I thought Sky Sports had made a mistake when I turned it on, and to make matters worse, it was there on the screen straight away.

Now I've not seen many games this season (1 or 2) but from what I have seen, we've been abysmal. From what I've been told, we've been abysmal. From what I've read.....well you guessed it!!

I've read the same thing from Johnson for quite a while now, and have been watching the forum closely recently and things aren't good at all. The same things are being said, by supporters and the manager, and I think that both parties are now becoming disillusioned with each other.

I think that the time has come, SL is a smart man, he won't make a rash decision, and he will not be forced to show his hand. However exiting the cup one week to local rivals, and then losing AT HOME the following week 0-6, could make his decision a lot easier.

Time for a change? Quite possibly. However a problem we would then have, is who to take over from him, and when?

If you get someone in soon, they can have the rest of the season to get things right. Shift the dead wood, and bring in fresh faces. The trouble might come to the length of GJ's contract that would have to be paid out. This could result in the "new" man being a budget buy (ala Tinnion), or if he get's in the right man at a big price, then new signings could be very limited.

I certainly wouldn't like to be in SL's shoes right now.
personally i'd give him a month to turn it around, I'd like to see someone like Atkins or Odrisscle, both have worked miracles on small budgets, but i guess we'll cross that bridge when we get there.

Agree with that, its shit or get off the pot time for johnson now, if he were to go i would be sad, hes been a good servant to this club but lately things have not been up to scratch.

Im not one of those who thinks we are a premier league team in waiting and thats not why i think things arent good enough, its the style of football.

I dont believe he had lost the dressing room before but if theres ever a game to loose a dressing room over its this one, it won't just be players v manager, there will be alot of blame being thrown around in that dressing room, brad and gerken clearly dont get on, and who knows who else.

Would hate to be agyemang walking into the middle of this.

FOR THE RECORD: i will be effin delighted if johnson turns it round for us and in 3 years time or watever we are in a position to challenge for the prem, but i cant c johnson being the right man to take us forward at the moment.

I was there and for the first 20 mins we looked the livlier team with more promise, thought we made Cardiff look quite ordinary. Then with what was probably their first attempt on goal they scored, then another straight away while we were still reeling from that they scored a third. I'd say they got lucky, if you can get lucky three times in a row! Everything they tried just flew in.

After that Gerkin's confidence, and his defence's confidence in him, was shattered. I was pretty sure that if Basso or Henderson was on the bench we'd have been looking for a change of keeper at HT, probably being put down to injury. As it was we only had Collis who has just joined and maybe it was a risk too far for Johnson. Mcallister in particular was being caught up in a lot of misunderstanding with Gerkin so he was sacrificed.

I felt quite sorry for the 2 new players who JCR in particular ran and ran, he looked good and was the pick of the bunch for me.

The defence were shaky, not so much with eachother as with Gerkin, not daring to play the safe ball back but being forced into a more difficult move, often resulting to a mistake. Midfield, well Hartley had an off game and Skuse put his body on the line to make some important blocks. The forwards, huffed and puffed with little end product, some promising moves.

I see this as just a blip, not a sign of things to come. We were saying on the way out that we have come away more depressed and angry when we have let a last gasp goal in to chuck away a lead than we did tonight.

No I'm not saying it was great, but I feel we are stronger with JCR and Agyemang. I've seen us play much worse and win/draw this season. 6 goals are a fluke, right?

And the biggest applause of the evening were for the soldiers, the biggest cheers were for the Dolman paper aeroplane championships.

Would "shifting the dead wood" drag you down from Hartcliffe more than 1 or 2 times per season?

Does anyone know why Millen was having a slanging match from the sidelines with Fontaine for two minutes after the opener, when to most it looked like Gerkin had flattened him and was at fault for the first two. Did that contribute to the meltdown in confidence of the central defenders? Much as they deserved a barracking, after just one goal at the time I thought Millen was a bit OTT. Anyway, to be honest if we have a specialist defensive coach, I'm not seeing it.

I tend to agree with this, but pressure definately building on GJ and we are going backwards bit by bit.

The defence were piss poor, but only a complete moron would decide to play a high line against Chopra and Bothroyd, and Johnson did that, you'd have thought he'd have noticed that Cardiff like to play balls over the top in behind to those two with McCormack coming in from the wing, but obviously Johnson was the only person not to notice this so went for tactical insanity yet agian. I've always thought restraint when it comes to Johnson was always the best idea, but after that i want him gone now, the elliot sub was the final straw, we have to be the only team in the world who come out after half time to sit on a 4-0 deficit, i'd have rather lost 8-2 but played for some pride in the second half, but no we come out to keep it at 4-0, and we can't even do that and only stopped conceding because Cardiff gave up, at half time i went for Cardiff to get 8 and they would have done had they not pretty much gone home after 70 mins, yet still at 6-0 they were working harder that we were.

The only players in that side i'd not drop would be JCR, Agyemang, Skuse and hartley (despite being garbage) the rest would have a nice stint in the reserves.

To be frank i'd be tempted to drop those 4 as we are in all likleyhood going to get dicked by Boro and it's unfair to send out youngsters against them, but come Cov i'd drop the rest of them and give the youngsters a chance but then we've loaned them out pretty much making the back 5 that were and have been for most of the season piss poor as a unit pretty much undroppable.
