LadyBristol
Hi all... Just a quickie to say that BCFC have allowed for us to collect for JDRF (Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation www.jdrf.org) at tomorrows game so please keep an eye out for us pre match and give generously My niece who is now 4, was diagnosed with type 1 diabetes from the age of 14 months.. JDRF is a brilliant charity. Their aim is to find the cure for type 1 diabetes. Type 1 is a lifelong and life-threatening condition that typically strikes young children through no fault of their own or their parents. The cause is nothing to do with diet, exercise or obesity. It reduces life expectancy by 20 years and is a leading cause of kidney failure, adult blindness, stroke, heart attacks and nerve damage leading to amputation. Over 350,000 people in the UK are affected by type 1 diabetes with over 25,000 of them children. A child with type 1 has to do roughly three injections and six pin-***** blood tests every day just to stay alive. That is over 1,000 injections every year, for children as young as a few months old. If a child is diagnosed with type 1 at twelve months old, they will have experienced over 2,000 pin-***** blood tests by the time they reach their second birthday. JDRF exists to find a cure for type 1 diabetes and its complications. They are the world's largest charitable funder of type 1 diabetes research. So every penny you donate is a step closer to finding the cure for this condition and helping those affected by type 1 all over the world. There are a few of us collecting, so please look out for us Thanks Sonia
