madmax
Tom, if you live close, get yer coat and get down there. According to a freind, it started in the flat above and spread to the bar area. Fire engines are at the scene. MM

madmax
Oh my... pictures to follow So it's true then. How bad is it? MM
Guest
Well it doesn't look good, 3-4 fire engines, 1 rapid response ambulance and a couple of police cars. The road is shut from the corner of north street. Looks like the top floors have been absolutely gutted by it and I imagine that will at best resulted in smoke damage downstairs but probably worse. madmax
Don't look that bad MM
Guest
It's not burnt to the ground no, but if you look at the first picture you can see the extent of the fire upstairs with black around all the windows... hard to tell what it would have done downstairs. madmax
True. I think just smoke damage downstairs as my mate said it didn't look like the fire took hold in the bar area. Will be shut for sure Saturday! MM
Rassy
Will it be open Saturday?
Guest
Will it be open Saturday? I doubt it'll be open again this season, it will need a complete refit.
madmax
Will it be open Saturday? Depends how much damage is in the bar area. As it's just happened, I assume the bar was open at the time of the fire so they may have been able to deal with some issues. If this would have been during the night, god knows what could have happened. MM
Roger Red Hat
Fortunately it looks like the Budleigha growing out of the chimney has servived, phew. I should imagine it benefitted from a good soaking from the firemans hose.
Dynamite Red
Water damage will be the biggest concern.
Dollymarie
I just drove past on my way home. Still 2 fire engines there, although the fire looks to be out. Pretty much every upstairs window has been blown out and looks very black. The outside of the downstairs looks ok though.

RedM
I doubt it'll be open again this season, it will need a complete refit. In that case you got to wonder if it will open again, ever.

The Casual Connoisseur
So that's pretty much a big fat zero when it comes to proper pubs in the Ashton Gate area, sad. Hope no one was injured and it's not another RIP City Boozer.
