Young (19), tall (6ft 2) and scores goals (9 this season)

Get moving Steve Coppell before someone else snaps him up. Swansea have had a £750k bid turned down, Dale want a million.

Oh and while you're at it get Snodgrass from Leeds as well - Bates would take the money!

No he wouldn't. Having long since screwed their creditors Leeds now make good profits and they look nailed on for automatic promotion anyway.

Bates btw is not the owner anyway just a front man. Despite not revealing who the owners are the Football League have decided they are fit and proper. Like anyone connected with Bates is either.

Unfortunately, at the moment, the Football League doesn't have a fit and proper persons test - that's the Premier League. However, they are looking at proposals to fall in line with the top division, which would make every club reveal its ownership structure, and there could be a few Football League clubs, such as Leeds, with some interesting secrets to reveal...

£1,000,000 for a teenager who has only played in League 2. Bit extreme for my liking,

on the other hand, Maynard was a gamble in my view and it's turned out ok.

Sign him up!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Huge shout that. Dawson looked more than a League or two better than the rest in League 2, and at only 19. . . Would be a sound investment I reckon, espeically paired with some experience like Mr Carey!!

Also, just put another name in the hat. Kasper Schmeichel is able to leave Notts Co on a free this summer. Get them two in for a combined £1m and that is a good start to bolstering what I believe to be a weak point in the SQUAD.

Is this Dawson related to Michael and the lad at Hull, who's name escapes me right now?

The difference is that at the moment, this is just guidance for the Football League, whereas the Premier League supposedly 'enforce' it much more strictly. Although, given some of the owners there have been in the top division, you wouldn't have thought it.

Also:

Q: Are the Premier and Football League tests the same?

A: The Premier League has significantly strengthened its rules this summer following pressure from the government, while the Football League has not.

It's certainly weak but more than guidance. Notts County as an example of both:

Likewise the Premier League has indeed boosted its test somewhat recently. Shutting the stable door after the horse has bolted.

No relation. Rochdale picked this Dawson up from non-league last season. Think he was playing even lower than the Conference - just goes to show there are gems out there if you look hard enough!

Kasper Schmeichal is interesting Blackburn and Tottenham apparently and would probably be out of our reach wages wise - he was on 14k a week at Notts County.
