Super Scotty Murray scoring the winner after about 30 seconds last time they graced us with their company was fun, even if the rest of the game was a stinker. Shame I missed the goal!!

So did most of the Millwall fans still being escorted into the ground

I missed it too as I accidentally got too pissed and the police wouldn't let me in. It's like door men, they can see when your eyes are 'gone'.

Always the innovative drunk, I decided to twaddle off and try again in five minutes time doing my best impression of a sober person.

My cunning disguise failed me though and they advised me on some law or another about attempting to gain entry whilst intoxicated being an arrestable offence so to bugger off.

Boy, did I used to drink.

I have fond memories of freezing my conkers off, after one of the loveable scamps lobbed a rock through our coach window, whilst passing through Earl's Court, in 1984.

It was a story in the papers, about how they had used CB radio to let the ambushers know when we were approaching.

The dirty, cockney ratboys.

Remember back in the 80's, City used to mob up in the H&C before the big games. So Millwall were visiting AG. Mobile phones had just become common and a certain CSF lad told them the week before the game we would be in the H&C waiting for them. I thought this special Saturday should be an early start. So met my mates on the way in to Bristol. Got to North Street at 11am, parked up, etc, early doors.

Wandered down the road, as we walked into the H&C I thought to myself 'some new faces out today'. Then the cockney accents and I thought oh f#ck! Some cocknies in there 40s built like shit houses politely told us to leave the pub. There were 3 of us and circa 200 old uns from Millwall. As stated on there day a top drawer firm. We made a swift exit as they were in the boozer at 11am sharp! Our home boozer!

Have to give them credit as when they do decide to travel - they are up for it. There was absolute chaos in the park that day post match as the OB let them out the same time as home fans in those days - for some reason?

Remember a Millwall woman fan in her early 40's taking a swing at my mate - she missed. They had 200/300 hard core that day but what they were good at doing was 'hunting' in small packs of 20 or so. Very difficult for the OB to control as City were also well up for it. Met several Millwall fans at England away games and the old uns had a lot of respect for city in the 80's/90's. Used to love the Millwall games - proper naughty!

Good days!

I remember a game at the New Den about 15-20 years ago.  We won and at the whistle the Millwall fans ran onto the pitch, sat down and stared at the directors box in silence.  Not the usual Millwall protest but effective.

Went to the old Den in the mud 80's on CATS and some kind city fans had daubed the rear of a stand with city kill Millwall etc...

On the way down the Old Kent Road to the ground me and my mate were in the front coach of about 6, the pubs emptied as we went by and the coaches behind were pelted with beer glasses.

This set the tone for the day, when we got off the coach at the Den there were not many windows left in some of the coaches.

The atmosphere at kickoff was menacing and there were about 350 city fans penned in the away end. Just to make matters worse I think Kenny Stroud scored a cracker in the first 5 mins. I have never seen anything like it but it looked like the entire ground full of cockneys were trying to get at us. One copper in the sterile area trying to stop hundreds climbing over the segregated railings. By good fortune and about 20mins in, they were distracted as a late coach arrived full of the Bristol City mob from the Venture Inn Knowle West nut cases who were at the back of their home end waiting for them to climb over the big gates and as they did gave them s bit of a hiding which under the circumstances I can see why they now respect our reputation.

So the police ushered them into the away section and for the next 10 mins I thought my life as a 17 yr old was about to end. I now knew what fear felt like. Fortunately Millwall scored in the second half to equalise and I was preying we wouldn't score a winner.

Post final whistle was something else!

Escorted back to coaches and our coach was the only one with a full complement of windows, in front of us was the police riot fans and 100 yds further a line of police in line across the road in full riot gear. Behind us was the Venture Inn coach with no windows but parked parallel to a milk float with crates of empty bottles.

The police inspector came on to our coach and told us to lie on the floor of the coach or turn our back to the window WTF!!!

Coach driver was told to go under a narrow low bridge to get out the area, as I looked round it was like a scene from the Wanderers film as 100's of Millwall fans started running towards us and the police, behind us the Knowle West lot had acquired numerous crates of milk bottles and were throwing at Millwall over the heads of the police - this was ******* mental.

Was glad when we got out of the area but found out next day that 2 of the coaches got attacked in West London so considered ourselves lucky that day!

INCRED - was at that game. Well remembered the Venture coach.

In my opinion, was the craziest away game in all my years following City. The Millwall mob contained a fair few black guys in those days. They were in the 'no mans' land trying to climb into the away end. The Old Den was like no other ground. You could literally walk all the way around the home part of the ground if you wanted. So when the Venture arrived, the entire ground was emptying. Unbelievable scenes that have stayed in my memory to this day! The OB had a hell of a job maintaining order as the ground and back streets was like a maze.

Kind of miss the old ground atmosphere to be honest.

think it was 1985.walsh missed a penalty and steve lovell scored near the end for millwall.

also remember teddy sheringham scoring a hat trick as they thumped us 4-1.always loads of trouble on the terraces,

remember millwall running into the dolman and being met with a hail of missiles.always plenty of broken glass outside after!

The '85 game is the one that sticks in my mind. About 400 wooden seats got torn up and chucked at the Millwall fans.  They lit fires in the away end.  Afterwards I tried to walk back to town through Greville Smyth Park but it was full of blokes fighting. I tried to walk along the side of the Dual carriageway but got headbutted by a Millwall fan.

I was 13 at the time.  I also seem to remember a GWR reporter was carjacked by some of them outside the ground.

I was stood, quietly in Dolman B for that game

Stood as all the seats had 'disappeared'

Remember the bonfire and the E-I-O chants as they tried to push a cop onto the bonfire in the middle of the open end terracing !

The carjacking was one Johnathon Pearce and it was City types. A milk float was also commandeered by City chaps ... Raining bottles ... Milky milky.
