No Points Until September!

Are people forgetting what happened to Norwich last season, losing 7-1 at home then going on to win the league by 9 points. Alright, that was League One and obviously a different situation (change of manager shortly following etc.) but it shows it's not possible. Imagine what they were saying after that last season?

Admittedly, I couldn't make the game yesterday as I had to work, but I for one can't imagine it was that much worse than many of the performances last year - considering we currently have a very depleted squad of injuries, some first teamers sold and new signings still not fully gelled. Compare that with some first team performances last year i.e. Cardiff, Doncaster etc.

Obviously the majority of the fans are looking at this in a similar way to me, new manager, new ambition and we certainly look like a club on the up. But sometimes you've got to take a few steps backwards to go forwards, and we knew with the numbers issues and a squad shake up that it'll be tough for a while, but let's be optimistic, get behind the lads and all turn up in full force to get us where we want to be!!

Lets not overreact but I do think yesterday was a sign of how hard it's going to be with the amount of injuries we're carrying atm. I'm hoping we can get Maynard, Haynes and Carey back a.s.a.p, as I really do think they'll improve our starting 11 no end. Having Maynard and Haynes in the team will make all the difference in the world and it's going to be tough without them imo. Still, it's only been one game and Coppell has a better idea of where we are now, as even he stated pre-Millwall he was just as intrigued as the fans to see how we'd do. Hopefully he'll sort the defence out for next week, and we'll see a bit more creativity in the middle of the park and more determination up front. We've had terrible luck with njuried though and Vokes just capped that off yesterday.

There seem to be no grounds for optimism over Nicky (the fact he is not seeing a specialist until Friday and may need surgery plus the fact that he had no pre-season could mean 2 months plus). The club has been completely silent on Danny which is also worrying. As to Carey, I said on another thread that his form over the last two seasons does not suggest his return would make a big difference. In the absence of further signings I fear and expect a tough time until Christmas.
