Dog Walkers/village Green

I don't like bowing down or giving in to these people at all but I have a solution.

What if the club gives a small parcel of land that can be designated for use by these dog owners, leaving us free to build the stadium and whatever on the rest of the site. They can be responsible for it, keep it clean (ha ha, fat chance) and let their kids roll around in the muck as much as they like. Nobody will own the land so it can't be sold or built on in future, a bit like a community scrubland. It would only be an half an acre/acre at most, maybe a narrow strip near a ditch which isn't any use anyway. no way do they need 42 acres to exercise a few dogs which is what they might end up with.

But that's the problem, the locals couldn't give two hoots about having a Village Green - they're just using the Village Green law to STOP the Stadium being built - they've admitted it themselves on thisisbristol.co.uk.

no point in a new stadium anyway! we cant even fill up the one we've got!

It has been proven time and again that new stadia increases crowd sizes. The difference between taking your family to a nice stadia with other things to do pre and after match to keep restless kids occupied as opposed to say -- Ashton gate is light and day.

Excellent idea fence it in high enough and it could double as a combat zone for anyone wishing to engage with the hooligan element visiting the new stadium.

Yeah a new stadium probably would increase crowd sizes.......... For a month or two, then the crowds will start to drop. Then when its back to the usual 14,000 fans the bigger stadium will look empty! Ever seen the Riverside! It's must be so embarrasing for Middlesborough fans!!!

The thing is that we would probably all do the same if a stadium was to be built behind our houses.

But the land all of our houses are built on was once green fields. The Ashton Vale area that these people live in was also originally green fields, shame someone didnt apply for town green status on that land before they were built!!!!.

Where does it all end.

With minority interests & village traditions in mind spare a thought for a section of society who have recently been shunned & ostracised from mainstream public life. They are colourful characters but sadly they seem to have nowhere to go to meet likeminded individuals & are an endangered species -

If only a kindly landowner could offer these people an open air area in which they can gather freely (in a village green kinda way - like morris dancers etc) & have get togethers for band practice etc... Sunday mornings would be good!

Please does anyone have any ideas of where lovers of the VUVUZELA & VUVUZELA MUSIC can meet regularly ?

Lets find them a home, vuvuzelas need friends too.. if the band becomes large and, with lots of practice, good enough maybe they could perform monthly concerts on the village green for all of us to enjoy

.... The Vuvuzela Vale Band sounds, erm, good

:) ....

I bet Local Governmental Grants are available for such projects too !

(vuvuzela used in traditional village life - about 28secs into this youtube clip)

well lets stay in a run down old stadium, which brings no other source of revenue into the club other then football matches.....and keep losing millions and millions per year.

Right...now try working out what will happen in the forseeable future should this be allowed to happen?

You are right that we don't fill AG at the moment (unless for a big game) but if we had a new stadium, with all the money making conference facilities then that will mean that we can afford the better players that COULD get the stadium filled very home game.

As there is no, or very little risk to the club, it is sepculate to accumulate time......

As for the Village Green Laws, they were to prevent developers snatching land from residents.............................STEVE LANSDOWN OWNS THE LAND............................so they are abusing the laws.

Well there are numerous TGV being won against public bodies like the NHS preventing them from selling land to improve facilities. Just looking casually at the abuse the system seems to have produced it would appear a lot of land owners, private and public companies are losing £millions of land in England. it maybe that the system is being abused, but abusing a system whilst keeping tot he letter of the law obviously is working - and has been for years now. The Government should make this one of their priorities, as it is not only our Stadia being effected but development across the country.
