Transport In Bristol

Driving in Bristol has become a real pain. There are just too many vehicles on the road and the problem is going to get far far worse as more and more houses are built around the outskirts of the city. Is'nt it time to make the decision to ban private motoring in Bristol and replace it with a co-ordinated public transport system? This obviously could not be put in place for at least ten years, to reduce the financial pain to car owners and workers in the motor repair and sales industries and to ensure that a 24hour local transport system using the benefits of modern electronic technology could be put in place. I realise that this will upset a lot of people but is there any other answer to the problems on Bristol roads that we are going to be faced with in the future?

Is there a major road without roadworks on in Bristol right now?

If you put in a decent public transport system you won't need to ban motoring. Hardly anybody will drive into town to work if it's quicker and cheaper to use public transport - but it isn't.

I think it would be impossible to create a complete and customer friendly transport system without banning motoring ,especially with the expected increase in traffic over the next few years.

It would help if Bristol CC, North Somerset, South Glos & BANES didn't think each other were a bunch of tossers and would actually work together without behaving like a bunch of kids in the playground.
