A Memory

Back around the seasons 1959 to 1962 the gas (and I know this will be hard to believe) were a division above us in the old 2nd division whilst we were in the 3rd.

I was still living in Bedminster in the house in which I was born. Our neighbour at the time was a gashead, he was also a 6ft 3inch ex Royal Navy and a Scot.

I used to watch City whenever they were at home of course, our neighbour would always ask me to go to Eastville when City were away, but I always had one pre condition and that was I insisted on wearing my City scarf, it did'nt matter who they played or what colours they played in, I always proudly wore my City scarf and always cheered the away side no matter who they were and anyone who said anything to me got the shortest of shrift from my neighbour, he was a man who took shit from nobody.

To be honest I was really just wondering if he was still alive, he was a great bloke, for a gashead.
