Danny P
Darren Ambrose, surely a cheeky 1.5 million pound bid would secure his services, only 26 and would be a great investment, Thoughts people? This is exactly the player we need, or maybe hammill?

This is exactly the player we need, or maybe hammill? Have you forgotten that we have just lost nearly £12 million in just the past year. I would hope for the sake of the future of our club that the next 2- 3 seasons the only players that come into the first team will be loans, academy or freebies. Surely if we slash the size of our squad by 10 or more players, we could spend money on better players? That being said, not sure what wages Darren Ambrose and Adam Hammill would be on, and whether their respective clubs would let them go.
Danny P
No not at all mate, lansdown will not stop backing this club, maybe only if we do not get our new ground, if we do he will continue to invest in knowledge that he will get his money back. In the mean time the club needs to push on, simple as that.

How easy do you think it would be to slash our squad by 10 players, then? Also anyone still under contract (which is everyone bar T.Williams) would also be entitled to being paid up before leaving, too. A £12M loss would soon become a £18M one with your plan..... Monkeh
2008 4 million Loss 2009 6.5 million loss 2010 11.8 million loss, We can not afford anyone at the moment until 35 players become 24 and then we would still have to sell to buy, So ppl are just living in lala land it won't be long before the shouts of "lansdown put your hand in your pocket" start again If you've got a spare 40 million to invest then go ahead but we will not be buying anyone until the squad has been trimmed and that will be the summer next year when about 8 players are out of contract

Clearly you weren't around in 1982. We need to lose 12 players, average wage £300K, that saves £3.6M, so losses will "only" then be £8.2M.
Tins
Hang on, 2 -3 seasons with no buys? We will have a squad with old players, McAllister, Carey etc, who wont be good enough. We will be in league 1 if this happens, so a 30,000 seater stadium for league 1?!

A lot of clubs have this odd system of developing young players, which is generally good value, and if you find a good player, it pays for itself. Maybe if we did that, we would need to buy a lot less players, and kids might actually be attracted to the City Academy (For the benefit of Cheltenham and Forest Green). WellRedPhil
Both great players but we have to start shifting a lot of the deadwood we currently have before we look to invest more.
