Portland Bill
I know its not really City related but interesting anyway.I got this off another site, League One side Plymouth Argyle's woes are continuing this week by the news that their banking facilities have been suspended. The Pilgrims have confirmed that their players and staff have yet to be paid this month and are directly blaming it on the outstanding winding-up order they have against them from HMRC that is due to be held next Wednesday as a result of their failure to pay their taxes on time. The Plymouth Evening Herald states that the players were due to be paid on the weekend but this has yet to happen. Since then Argyle have produced a statement saying that the events are directly connected, rather than a suggestion that the Pilgrims' cashflow has reached critical point: "Following the publication of the HMRC winding-up petition, our bank has taken the normal step in such circumstances of suspending our banking facilities. The suspension will remain in place until such time as the petition from HMRC is dismissed or we obtain a 'validation order' which returns our banking facilities to normal." The Herald states that the outstanding tax debt is for around £700,000, and is with respect to both PAYE and VAT. There are in fact two winding up orders - one against the main Argyle Football Club company, whilst the other is against Home Park Properties Limited, which was created in January to hold Argyle's property assets. The most scary thing though is that a certain PETER RISDALE has been in the Plymouth directors box recently, it seems like hes trying to get on the Plymouth board when will football clubs learn? chinapig
http://www.guardian....ment-exemptions Peter Ridsdale is set to become a World Cup winner, come what may at Fifa's 2018 vote tomorrow. The former Leeds United, Barnsley and Cardiff City chairman is in negotiations to invest in Plymouth Argyle. The distressed League One club failed to pay their players and staff last week and are the subject of a Revenue & Customs winding-up order, but Ridsdale has not shrunk: he will arrive in Plymouth today to continue talks. If England 2018 is awarded the tournament Ridsdale wins: the impetus will be there for £150m of inward investment around a planned 43,000-seat stadium. If England 2018 fails, Ridsdale wins: he can drive a harder bargain for his proposed investment in the club. One way or the other, Digger would be astonished if a deal is closed before the Fifa vote is concluded. What a surprise.
Coppello
I thought it was a bit too ambitious when they submitted their bid to host the World Cup. Build a 43,000 seater stadium when they were going down to league one and couldn't even afford their wage bill. It's madness!
cityhead
Probably hoping he can do the same for Plymouth as he did for cardiff, stop any judge from winding them up even though they owe us, the general public loads of our money! Could have got Sheffield Wednesday for £1 but this would have lef thim short of change, and too many people know him in Yorkshire. How the hell would he pass a fit and proper test!!! RedM
Plymouth will have a lucky escape if he's no longer interested now..
Redskins
I think Plymouth need to give Ridsdale a wide birth. His track record with club finances doesn't inspire confidence. He drifts from club to club causing mayhem!!!
