Martyn Hocking Posted March 9, 2011 Report Share Posted March 9, 2011 We clearly are in a better position, form wise, than a year ago, but last season was our worst for several years and we ended up sacking our manager as a result. We are still in a worse position than we were two and three year ago. Reasons to be positive - we have better players in several key positions. Cisse is better than Skuse/Lj as a partner for Marv; Caulker is a better central defender than Carey/Mccombe; James is a better keeper than Gerkhin; Woolford is a better option on the left wing than JCR/Sno. Causes for concern - Caulker isn't our player; Maynard's contract. The positives clearly outnumber the negatives - I didn't include Albert in the list above but he is clearly an improvement on Haynes! - but we need to retain Maynard this summer and add a couple more quality first choice players if we are going to be a top 10 team next season IMO.
