madmax
According a guy I was chatting to today, the pitch is getting ripped up today and relaid in the biggest pitch reconditioning in years. They will be digging down 8 inches deep and all the equipment was being delivered yesterday. During the Bon Jovi concert they will have special breathable boards they will be taken up immedaitely after the concert if finished. The pitch looked great as well considering end of season. CotswoldRed
I wonder if this is cost effective. The pitch looked like it had at least another season in it when I saw it last.
Admin phantom Posted May 16, 2011 Admin Report Share Posted May 16, 2011 Standard procedure at the end of every season. Helps reseed the pitch to be consistent qualiyty and thickness all over.
Rocky
I suspect the ground staff know what's best!
madmax
Was on the pitch yesterday and close up it looks worse than from the stands. The fact they are digging so far down must mean there is potential for something to go wrong. The machinery is there and work has started. Mr Popodopolous
Always thought pitch has been pretty excellent really, especially given how much rain we usually get in this region over Autumn and winter. Hopefully it will remain at current standards at least.

We rip the pitch up and at least reseed it every season. I think the cost is small in comparison to gig revenue (when we've got good acts that will sell out). 20k tickets x £50 for Bon Jovi?
