publandlord
Yesterday was just sympton of a much bigger problem. Since the play off final in 2008 the same mistakes have been made and the problem will continue to get worse until some radical action is taken WE have consistently bought players which are not up to the mark and rather than moving them on they just make the wage bill bigger and bigger. We paper over the cracks by bringing in expensive Premier League loanees Our academy has produced noone to improve the first team despite holding its own against mainly Premier League teams No reserve team means no development for these players and big 1st team squad means no place for them on the bench or any chance to gain experience This nonsense keeps James and Gerken and lets the future walk out the door to Portsmouth. When James came in why wasnt Gerken sold???? or loan James out and keep Gerken and Henderson Our midfield has consistently not had a playmaker since Hartley, what is the point of buying strikers when there is no one who can pass them the ball This shambles is costing the chairman around 10 million a year. What would I do: move on at least 10 maybe more of the first team squad ( this should have been done by now and is easier said then done) if we cant offload in the transfer window the try to loan them out if that fails simply pay up the contracts of at least 5 first team players - an expensive way of clearing up the mess but if we don't the team will continue to spiral downwards Create a proper reserve team for our kids to grow and learn the game take some risks in team selection - give the kids a chance Find a midfield player who can create - not pass the ball sideways or yet another ball winner Time for radical action - if it means relegation and coming back stronger that would be better than doing nothing look at Norwich and Southampton they are both in a much better state than us - go down clear out the cr-p and build again Fair play rules will stop Mr Lansdowne forking out £10 million a year to keep the ship afloat time to sort out the squad NOW

Noone can say we would go straight back up, lets risk it for another 9 years in that division yea?
bs3
If we go down it may take 10 years to come back up.
Mr Popodopolous
Fair play rules will stop Mr Lansdowne forking out £10 million a year to keep the ship afloat time to sort out the squad NOW This is the big issuie I think- some on here have said we have sufficent time to change it but above all else I do worry about the solvency and financing once FFP gets underway. Flicking through the programme ysterday- a squad of 34 is horrendous, no wonder we are posing a loss every year. Get rid of dead wood, loan out a number of young players for experience and hope they come good etc.
City1984
Not sure of the exact numbers but some 12+ are out of contract at the end of the season. Until then we won't be shifting much dead wood and even then we will still have a couple of shall we say unfavourable players with a year remaining. Barneyredballs
Not sure of the exact numbers but some 12+ are out of contract at the end of the season. Until then we won't be shifting much dead wood and even then we will still have a couple of shall we say unfavourable players with a year remaining. This is the sad truth. I'm not saying this is any excuse for KM as we can't keep saying 'it's not his team', but end of this season we have: James (I think he had the choice of staying after hitting a number of games, rather than City re-signing him) Carey Elliott Maynard Clarkson Cisse Jackson Hunt Campbell-Ryce Johnson - ? Mcallister - ? Fontaine - ? Ribeiro-? need to 'survive' this season to see any major changes, specifically in defence. In theory, we should have 10+ experienced championship players looking to either secure new deals or catch the eye of other clubs. Players with something to prove? Let's hope so
