The club could have been putting the 10k-15k per week (or whatever he gets paid) could have been spent on a new defender or two. Looking at where we are now, I know what I would rather have. Then again hindsight is a wonderful thing. It's not really hindsight though is it? We've known we required a central defender, a left back and a creative midfielder for many months, and we've only managed to bring in the midfielder. In the meantime, we lose a goal keeper who got voted player of the season and we continue to pay way over the odds for a keeper who isn't going to be with us long term at the expense of other players.
