Strangely it seemed like his 1st touch had deserted him, not usually the first thing to go when you are injured. Maybe his mind was on not hurting himself even more?

I always find it is - you're just slightly off the pace. Look at Rooney at the last World Cup, his touch was appalling and he was never quite fully fit from the injury he got towards the end of the season.

Agreed, I thought he looked his normal self in terms of unyielding commitment, but a touch off the pace when the ball was played into him.

The club are worringly quiet on Stead's situation. Millen is often asked about Carey, Stewart, Fontaine in interviews but no mention of Stead - the silence is ominous.

Interestingly, there has been no comment in interviews either on Riberio coming through the last two reserve matches seemingly unscathed.

C'mon media department. Give the paying public some service - the local newspaper does not have the gumption to keep on top of these stories.
