News of KM sacking and his appointment would feel like promotion to the Premier league at the moment, it would certainly provide a much needed lift..!

Posted

By whom ? How sure are they it was even him ? Sunday seems a funny time too plus surely they wouldn't hold talks at the ground...

Seems like bull to me

Well, he was wearing a "Im Dave Jones" name badge, and did have the car number plate "D1 JNES"

Dave Jones was spotted leaving ashton gate earlier.

Oh well that's can't be true.

There is no way that Colin Sexstone would interview a new potential new manager at Ashton Gate when Millen is still in situ.

If there was an approach to Dave Jones I'm sure it would have been more discret.

It was Dave Jones!! He was giving Billy Davies and Roy Keane a lift to AG for their interviews. Then they are all going to Alan Curbishley's Clifton gaff to have a few beers with Peter Reid who now apparently has time on his hands............

Spent loads at Baardiff to no avail. no.gif

How much did he actually spend and hasn't he recouped quite a bit in transfers out ?

Thought he did a good job there personally and has everywhere he's been.

He did a good job at southampton, took wolves up and cardiff were always a top 8 team and he took them to an fa cup final. i would love dave jones down here although these rumours are a load of rubbish

Posted

He made Cardiff big money on transfers, Roger Johnson, bought for £275k, sold for £5M, Chopra, first spell, bought for £500k, sold for £5m, Glen Loovens, bought for £250k, sold for £2M, not to forget signing Peter Whittingham for a bargain £350k, I think he'd do a superb job for us and is just what we need in our current predicament.

I beleive dave jones is on gardening leave and have a source that says it could be possible that we have spoken to him but that's it. As stated already CS spoils not interview him at AG with KM still in place.

Would be a good chance should Mullen fail in the next 3/4 games though as it could fit in nicely with His availability

I like your last sentence; they could wait another 50 games and it would still be the same outcome; why not just put us all out of our agony now.

Perhaps he could do the groundsman job as well !!

I have got to say that if we were interviewing or just having a notional chat, it wouldn't be at AG. Often these things take place in Motorway Service Stations strangely enough, also hotel rooms, at Steve Landsdownes gaff (via helicopter), Sextons house...anywhere except AG until the incumbant has been dismissed!

Maybe because its so obvious the club think nobody will bother to check?

This is all true, my source Billy the pisshead has just phoned me to confirm its a right old knees up with Robbie Savage on the decks :dancer2:

They went to Steves house via a private helicopter, they then stopped at the services for a cup of tea, signed the deal then he wanted to look around ashton gate.

Okay, well my turn to be called a BS.

Yesterday a freind of mine showed me a text from a member of the backroom staff at AG saying Dave Jones to be reveiled as City manager ahead of the Blackpool game, all that's holding it back is Jones' compensation from Cardiff.

Don't shoot the messenger.

Dont get me wrong, I'd be happy if it were the case and this is not a dig at you as your just passing on the message but I cant believe that the board have got even close to making this sort of decision yet

What if we win the next two home games?

argh but what makes this contact of yours so sure the said compensation will be sorted before the pool game?

how can we have a new manager when we still got one in place?

See this is the thing that got me, so I asked.

He said apparently Millen knows about it and is staying in charge until everything's sorted out.

But once again this is what I heard, might be BS might not be.

Because there comes a time when any board, however late in the day it is, wake up, smell the coffee, and realise they made an almighty balls up and unless they act they will sleep walk us to league 1. That point of realisation may very well have already passed.

I agree, just dont think CS (SL) have got to that point just yet

The story has some believability about it although if true I would rather we shook Keiths hand and let him cut his teeth at a more realistic level

Posted

I can't imagine Keith wanting to stay and be relegated to assistant?

Surely it would be better all round to let him go (as RedRaw said). Keith will make a good manager in the future.

Chopra cost Jones £4m to get back at the club and was sold for £1.5m.

He also brought in Robbie Fowler, Jimmie Floyd Hasselbaink and the not undiluted success of Craig "£90k a week" Bellamy's loan. Add in all Cardiff's court appearances - only leniency kept them from going bust - and Wolves relegation and I'd say his best days were at Southampton.

How do you know where the text came from?.

Complete BULLSHIT.

Staying in charge til everything has sorted out??!?!?!?!?!

GET IN THE ******* REAL WORLD.clapping.gif

yeah that is somewhat 'funny' and implausible. nevertheless, would not put it past BCFC... they must really love the guy!

Posted

Why is it not possible?

KM loves Bristol City as much as GJ did. If the board approached KM and told him they didnt feel he was doing the job as first team coach and offered him the chance to step back again, learn from a new guy and give it a go at another club in the future why is that so hard to believe?

He would still have a job at the club he loves.

Seems possible to me.

Was on a reported £700K rolling contract at cardiff, let a drinking culture evolve and couldn't control players ego's on or off the pitch. he made some great signings but Cardiff paid out some huge signing on fees, bonuses and some astronomical wages. At the end of the day they are still in the championship and with a fantastic squad at his disposal couldn't get them promoted, personally I'd give Jones the wide berth.

Although our immediate future is of utmost importance, Id prefer a manager that can come in and completely change the infrastructure of our club, from the bottom up, something along the lines of Swansea.

Paulo Sousa, would be my choice, but Jones is a safe bet.

Good shout

I would have gone for Paulo Sousa as my first choice

Sadly though hes managing in Hungary now

Not that I believe this thread has any foundation in the slightest but I'm afraid Paulo Sousa would be a terrible appointment.

City fans have proved they have no patience and most have very little football nous. Sousas slow build up and possession football would have most screaming "get it forward!" and most probably "Sousa out" before the end of the 1st half.

Don't be ridiculous. City fans aren't THAT patient.
