brady bunch Posted September 28, 2011 Posted September 28, 2011 Heard him on the radio the other day and thought he was worth a shout at the managers job here if it became vacant. He spoke with great knowledge about the championship and I think we approached him once before. He would certainly take the players out of their comfort zone..

I think Royle would have been a good shout 10 years ago, but his time has gone now, we need to look to the future imho.
Guest Rowley Birkin Posted September 28, 2011 Posted September 28, 2011 Would be absolutely perfect as our Director Of Football.
Guest dziekanowski Posted September 28, 2011 Posted September 28, 2011 Would be absolutely perfect as our Director Of Football. On a massive wage to go with it Has there ever been a succesful director of football?
Guest Bored Dilemma Posted September 28, 2011 Posted September 28, 2011 Just hope we act soon and make a sensible appointment that once again offers a real chance of success. Royle's best management days were Oldham - but that was a while ago. Cracking side though....
Red-Robbo Posted September 28, 2011 Posted September 28, 2011 On a massive wage to go with it Has there ever been a succesful director of football? Exactly. As was proved with John Ward/Benny it is usually a case of 'too many cooks'.
Guest CIDERARMY1986 Posted September 28, 2011 Posted September 28, 2011 Maybe buddy maybe well he cant do any worse then what we have at the moment :laughcont:
Kingswood Robin Posted September 28, 2011 Posted September 28, 2011 His time with a club like ours would have been 20 years ago. Frightening how fast the years have gone!
David Brent Posted September 28, 2011 Posted September 28, 2011 Trollope / Lawrence worked well at the gas. No Joe Royle please.
Guest Rowley Birkin Posted September 28, 2011 Posted September 28, 2011 On a massive wage to go with it Has there ever been a succesful director of football? Bobby Charlton, David Dein, and Zubizarreta at Barcelona haven't been too bad, although I admit in a different sonisphere to us ! We are crying out for such an elder respected figure of the football world, with all their knowledge, and Joe would be ideal. Even to be some kind of advisory, would be beneficial, and I'm sure wouldn't cost a fortune. Be honest do you trust any of our current board to make a single football decision ? No, nor do I. I'd prefer Jim Royle to what we've got now !
