Just looked at our history of the past 60 years and came across a worrying stat.

Apart from the glory years of the mid 60's and 70's , Bristol City have never spent more than 5 seasons in the second tier of the football league, going down to the 3rd in the process

1955-60

1990-95

1998 :disapointed2se:

And more worryingly this is our 5th season !!!!

The only time in recent history we've stayed in 2nd tier for a long period of time was when the chairman kept faith with the manager ie. Alan Dicks. I'd imagine he was unpopular with the fans after a few disappointing seasons however he kept his job and the club reaped rewards eventually.

I believe Gary Johnson could have done a Dicks.
